Cloudy ....

10th February 2025 (Monday)     08.45 .... the Fife Weather cams are showing a patchier sky

than yesterday;  in fact the Lochgelly cam has some blue patches now and again.    'Light rain with a moderate Easterly breeze' is our forecast;  and it's cauld!    It's brighter towards the the West, so that's where I'm going (Methil) to visit Alice and do some shopping.   It's is too cold to go to Dysart.

17.00    The weather was brighter at Methil, in fact we had blue sky around about lunchtime;  but  it wasn't a day for going anywhere, other than to a warm supermarket which is what we did after a blether and a cuppa.    And some 'Brain Food' that Alice got in the Glenrothes M & S Food hall.   Actually it was tastier than I expected it to be;  and probably healthy eating.   Alice also bought a couple of M & S chicken is a cheese sauce etc 'ready meals';   and they were excellent.   The single portions were so big that  we divided  one between two.   That was a really good buy!

We decided to go to Lidl's for a change of shop;  they've always got a couple of sections of an aisle displaying household, garden and workshop tools etc.  A change from the usual 'browsing'.    For some obscure reason I managed to buy everything that I had written on my list!   Why was that a surprise?  The list had been left at home on the breakfast bar!    I've had a good 'day'  .... even though the sun only broke through for a wee while!

22.30     My day is ending with a migraine;   I will be feeling 'playful' tomorrow!    
It has been a wet evening and it looks like we could waken to a cold and wet morning.   Hey that's good:  I could make some progress with the 'ousework.... if I can't go out to play.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
