Nice morning .....

25th May 2026 (Monday)     10.20 .... It was hot last night;  I woke up at 03.00 and couldn't get

back to sleep.     What did I do? ..... had  a drink of water, and did a hard Soduko!   That pleased me.  I eventually fell asleep and woke up  at 07.20 to a lovely sunny morning.    At the moment we have some cloud drifting over from the SW that hides the sun now and again;  but it  looks like being another hot day.... however there's a moderate SW breeze to keep us cool.    I haven't been out, in fact I'll be staying cool inside Ivy most of the time;  but will have morning coffee in 'The Hutte' shortly.

19.00     My word it has been hot today;  and tomorrow is going to be more of the same;  perhaps even a degree or so warmer.    The UK record for the month of May has been broken, both day and night, in the Southeast (London); day 34.8C, and night 19.4C.   I had difficulty sleeping and the temperature was only 14C (on the central hearing 'buttons').    

I wanted warmer weather, but not this,'stay in,stay cool, and drink plenty liquids' weather!    I had morning coffee in The Hutte, after I'd hung out a washing, but that is all I've been able to do.   Thankfully the wind has freshened,  and the air cooler and  much more comfortable..   Mind you loads of folk  have been going down Ferry Road to the beach;  which I imagine would be busy.    The holidaymakers have certainly enjoyed a good Bank Holiday weekend!     Up until COVID my chest could cope with hot, and cold weather, but not now.

22.15     Now that the air has cooled down my breathing is almost normal.   It's a bit of a nuisance not being able to go out on days like this, however I have plenty to keep me from being bored.   But I can understand why elderly people have to take care on hot days.   Anyway, I'll be 'taking care' tomorrow, and the air should begin to change after that.    I like sunny weather, but not the temperature we had today.    Imagine what it was like in the middle of London today!

I am well ready for bed tonight;  however, tonight could be hotter than last night, so it could be another

restless night, even though I am tired after the broken sleep I had last night.  There are plenty cold nights;  so I can put up with a few hot ones!

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
