Overcast and damp ....

13th January 2025 (Monday)     09.00 .... the sky is overcast, and, although dry just now light

rain is forecast, and to be with us most of the daylight hours.   The air is warmer, but feels cool when exposed to the fresh breeze.   I'm feeling frisky, but the weather is against me actually being frisky;  this will end up being a 'rest day'.   We had a bonnie sky at sunrise time;  had I noticed it sooner I might have gone to the beach.... I then remembered that it would be windy down there!   I had another cuppa instead!

19.30   It has been a funny old day for me.    I was planning on going Methil to annoy Alice but felt a couple of degrees under the weather.   I assume it is the change in the weather.   Anyway I ended up with with a hoarse throat so decided to 'self isolate' until that clears up.  Bring on Spring and the 'daffy down dilly' weather!

I had some stuff to take to the Woodhaven re-cycling place, so took a few photographs when there;  and decided to go to St Minnins kirk for a change of scenery.   Going to the Auld Kirk used to be a dawdle;  not so nowadays.   There is work going on all over the place all over the place (like Elie and Earlsferry), so there are  vehicles parked all along the road.   I eventually got to my destination (kirk
car park) and had a short walk round the kirkyard.   By this time it was spitting rain, and I was glad to get back to the car.   Funny this is;   I thought St Minnins would be one of the last places to lose it's auld identity, but, like the rest of the East Neuk it's all change.    I didn't meet anyone on my travels;  which was hardly surprising when I think of the weather at the time.
I still felt UTW after being out, so settled down to have a 'rest day'.  The weather improved around midday when we had a 'sunny interval'!    I didn't go out because I was tired, and well ready for an afternoon nap.

22.15   This damp weather is not the best so we should be happy tomorrow!....'sunny intervals with a moderate breeze' is the weather forecast for our area!    I've had a Lemsip with honey (and secret additive) so I can look forward to good nights sleep;  and a brighter day tomorrow.   I'm a "Happy Boy" tonight!

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

Nice morning .....

4th January 2024 (Saturday)    09.15 .... The car windscreens is clear, the washing I left out Shona huggin' a huge Kilbrackmont tree! overnight is flapping about in the breeze, and my breathing easier.   The sky is mostly cloudy just now, but our weather forecast for today is "sunny intervals with a gentle breeze".    There's a Yellow Warning for snow active from midnight tonight through to midday on Monday;  though I imagine it will more likely be sleet, or rain,  for us.   'Sunny Sussex' and most of the South of England is covered by an Amber Warning for snow today, so most of the UK is likely to see snow at some point over the next few days. 20.00    Although not the best of drying days the washing was nearly dry by the end of the afternoon.   Earlier in the afternoon I'd gone to Methil to annoy Alice.  We had a cuppa before going shopping.  We went to Sainsbury's they have 'everything' and are trying ...
