Grey and damp .....

5th January 2025 (Sunday)    09.15 .... The first thought I had when I went out to feed 'Blob' was

"it's dismal looking this morning".   And it still is.    The Fife Weather cams are all showing grey, though the Lochgelly one has a covering now on the roofs of the nearby houses.   There's a Yellow Warning for snow and ice, active from 06.00 this morning through to 09.00 tomorrow morning.... so not the most cheerful kind of morning; but, let's be positive .... it's only 73 days until the Spring Equinox (March 20th at 09.01)!   Happy boy!

11.15    I set off to have a wander up to the Pony Field but is began to rain so I stopped at the Ferry Road phone box, took a few photos to let you see the weather we have today, then wandered back to Ivy ... and the kettle switch!   The sky is showing slightly better signs so I might have ago for the beach after lunch.   We're lucky with the weather (so far);   there has been snow at other places.   Snow can mean bonnie wintry photographs, but it has to melt and the result of that is a slushy mess, and sometimes flooding.  There you are;  I've convinced masel that we're having the best of weather today!

20.30     I've changed my mind about us having the best of the weather today:  our weather has been cr... er horrible!   I'd rather have had the snow;  at least I'd have got a few bonnie photographs.   I never went out again after my wander up to the phone box in the morning.   That was when the rain started .... and got heavier as the day wore on.

However I haven't wasted the day completely.   Not only did I find out how many days it is until the 'Spring Equinox' I also found out how many days until the following important dates of 2025.   The Spring Equinox I've mentioned 73 days, next is the Summer Solstice (Midsummer Day) on the 21st June, 177 days, then there's the Autumnal Equinox on the 22nd September, 259 days, the Winter Solstice 341 days, and finally Christmas Day 345 days.   That's 2025 taken care of!  What am I going to do if it's raining 'ra morra'?

22.30    Everything will be back to normal tomorrow;  the sound of workmen, hammering at things, is the final sign that the Festive Season is over!    When I think about it; it must have been hard being Pagan worshipping the sun at this time of year:  it's no' the maist reliable God on a cloudy, and wet day like today.   Having said that they knew, like we do, that  the sun would appear again!   It's going to be wet tomorrow morning, but the rain will move away, to give us a few sunny spells later in the afternoon!
