Breezy and cold .....

26th January 2025 (Sunday)    09.30.... It' a nice morning, but there is a cold wind so definitely a

day for an extra layer.   I had a good night's sleep (after a 'Janice Toddie') but the cold air means that I  stay 'in'.   I'm trying to shake off the lingering effect of that throat bug I had at Christmas.   However, the plan is to have a wander to the beach once the sun gets going.   Unfortunately it's never going to be 'warm' today, so I'll be well wrapped up.   'Gusty winds with rain later' is our weather forecast.

Storm Eowyn is past but the damage has to be fixed;  however that is 'in hand'..... so the stress levels are falling rapidly.  I think an early morning coffee might help!

17.00   It has been a mostly grey and cold day as you can see from the photos I took when I went out in the car in the afternoon.    Actually that was quite exciting.   Going along the Balbuthie road I spotted small a flock of strange geese in the field, close to other side of the hedge.   I couldn't stop where I was because they'd have taken off, so I went round the next corner and down to the layby, from where I took

a couple of photos in the hope of seeing them (they were in a hollow part of the field.    The gods were on my side:  I caught one on the bottom left corner of the photo with the tree in it!   I think it is is Bean Goose (Taiga) because about 200 of them over winter on the Eden Estuary.  (I magnified the original photo to see the marking and beak).    That brightened up what has been a less than exciting day for me.   He (or she) would be the look out; in fact I think I had been spotted!    The main flock were to the left and in the hollow.   Not much to get excited about I know;  but it's my only Bean goose photo!   The other clue that made me think they were 'different', were the cars moored up near the former cottar houses.... and people with cameras ...i.e. 'twitchers'.

22.30    It's a wild, wet and cold night;  I hoped the wind  and rain will have passed over by tomorrow!..... the rain is still to be with us but the winds lighter!   Iain is coming down to take me up to Auchnagatt for a few days at the end of the week.   Hazel Granddaughter) will be there with Sorley (my second Great Grandson).   Steven (Hazel's partner) will be working in Glasgow so I don't think I'll meet him this time.

When Iain is down on Thursday we're going to temporarily patch the rhone to take the rainwater from
the roof along to the downpipe.   That will do until I can get it done properly.   Iain and Michael are organising all that.   I'll have to get the ridge fixed before that happens.

Although it hasn't been the bonniest of days the Coastal Path was busy when I took the bottom photo.
