Overcast .....

24th December 2025 (Wednesday)     09.30 .... The sky is overcast just now, with a light Easterly

breeze .... which has a 'nip' in it so it will be cool out in the open.  The sky should  start to break up a bit, with 'sunny spells' to come our way in the afternoon.   The sky is clear in 'Sunny Sussex' this morning, (Michael has been on the phone) and that weather is moving our way!

The original 'plan', to spend Christmas with Jackie Iain and Catriona  at Auchnagatt, had to be cancelled because Catriona is in bed with a 'bug'.   The Nurse said yesterday we have various 'bugs' going round the UK so it's  a case of lying low, staying warm and eating regular meals.   I am well stocked up with food so have no problem with eating;  and also lying low 'cos I can't walk far anyway.

11.45    About an hour ago, when out at the gate, we had a blue small patch in, what was at the time a clearing sky.  However, the light cloud has thickened;  but it's nothing like the thick damp cloud we yesterday.   There's still a chance of the light cloud breaking up to give us a few sunny spells.

I'm going to spend part of the afternoon organising my Christmas Lunch.   Peel the spuds ... and an onion, and things like that.

16.00   I've had a quiet day.    Unfortunately the sky never really cleared today,  though we had some 'very nearly' big blue patches in the early afternoon:  the sky to the South (the Borders) was clear by sunset, and breaking up to the West.  I thought about going to Ferry Corner with the camera to catch the sunset sky, nut 'The Ferry' is busy with traffic so I went back to resting mode.

Chris and Thomas came round from Earls Lodge with a Christmas cards and a present (a bottle shaped

present) so I enjoyed chatting to them.    Julie came round, just after the boys had been to tell me she would bring a Christmas dinner round tomorrow afternoon;  so that saves me making my own  dinner.   I really appreciate that.

The top photo is the Christmas decoration atop the Toll Green Post Box;  knitted by Cath and  team of local girls who decorate the post box for Christmas, Easter and Armistice Day.  Their work, is much admired.... and appreciated.    The other two are from the archive (2011).
