Light cloud and cold ....

27th December 2025 (Saturday)      09.30 ....  The weather is much the same as it was at this

time  yesterday;  except for the temperature!   It is bitterly cold this morning, with a light breeze from the Northeast.   The patio thermometer is at 4.2C.    I won't be going out on 'The Buggy'!   I might wrap up well and have a short walk later.   Sunny spells?    I'm ever hopeful that we'll have \a few 'nearly sunny spells' in the afternoon.  It's time to put the kettle 'on'.

19.30    We had a nice, bright spell of weather in the middle of the day, so I went for a short walk;  up to the golf course, then to Rotten Row Rotten Row, Ferry Corner and home.    The almost sunny spells weather didn't last long:  the next time I went out the street was wet so we must have had a shower.   This was disappointing, because I went out contemplating going down to Nana's Seat.    I ended up watching the snooker and browsing the Alberto Archive.

Earlsferry has been busy today, and I assume that Elie has also been busy.  That's Christmas over for another year:  next year I plan to be better organised earlier than I was this year.    The booster jab upset my routine at a crucial time.

'Light cloud with a light Northerly breeze' if forecast for tomorrow;  and it will be cold.   I'm looking for another spell of brighter weather in the middle of the day tomorrow;  if that does happen I'll make my way to Nana's seat.

We have another week of dark mornings before the sun begins to rise earlier.  Since the Winter Solstice the sun has been setting later (in fact it began to set later before the Solstice), but continued rising later;  so actual daylight  time has been longer by only a few minutes since 21st December.   It's all to do with the tilt of the Earth and it's elliptical orbit round the Sun.   We'll notice the difference in the daylight by the middle of January;  by that time the sun will be rising earlier and setting later.

The top photograph is of Ferry Corner decorated for the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1936.    The
middle (Ferry Corner 'now') and bottom photies were taken today.    I enjoyed being 'out' today and look forward to being able to do Nana's Seat tomorrow.   But that depends on the weather.    It's time to put the kettle 'on'.
