Nice morrrning .....
31st December 2025 (Wednesday) 11.30 .... It's a really lovely morrrrrrrrrrrrning , but it is
chilly! I've just come in from hanging out a washing and, my word my 'haaunds are cauld'. The temperature is now 2.5C, after an overnight low of -3.9C. I've been 'roond The Ferry' (in the car; I'd like to go to Nana's Seat sometime today, but it depends on how I'm feeling. The cold I have has 'broken'; watering eyes and sniffles so, if I do go out, I'll be well wrapped up. I don't want to spread the cold: however, I suspect, that my run roond the Ferry, in the car was my trip out for today! I'll see how I feel after morning coffee. Oh ... I got out of bed at 08.45; slightly earlier than yesterday morning.14.30 It's good to see the washing blowing in the breeze; I think it might be dry by the time I bring it in. I've had a migraine (weather change) so that has taken care of my afternoon. I won't go down to Nana's Seat today; but the weather forecast for the next few days is 'good' ,but cold with a slight chance of showers. The showers could be of snow on Friday and the weekend. Iain and Jackie (Auchnagatt) have a very good chance of snow.
I'm going to take a couple o' pills for the migraine, then, hopefully, have a nice catnap; and to waken up feeling friskier than I am just now. Ferry Road has been busy again, with vehicles and holiday makers out walking.
21.30 This has been a lovely sunny albeit cold day; and a reasonable drying one. My washing wasn't quite dry but will be ready to iron tomorrow morning.
Now that my cold has 'broken', I've had a better, and busier day. Another couple of rest days should have me back to normal. This cold spell is a bit of a bummer; but it will soon pass.
Tomorrow is the first day of a new year.... 2026! 2025 has been plagued by evils of War and Hatred; I'd like 2026 to be a year of 'Peace and Love'; and the first of many. That will require politicians, of all political shades, to understand that Planet Earth, and the life it supports, is more important than most of them seem to think. It's going to take brave politicians to save Planet Earth; and it's going to have to be done.... and done soon.
Why? .... because it will take along time to undo the damage that we humans have done... and
continue to do. I'm thinking of the fact that I have not had the pleasure of seeing, and hearing, a flock of Swifts over Elie and Earlsferry on a balmy August evening, for the past seven years. And there's another thing, that's very obvious to all car drivers; dead insects on the car windscreen! Where are they nowadays! They certainly are not there to hit the windscreen; and that's because of a massive decline in the insect population, not because the insects are avoiding roadways. Luckily we have clever people that are working hard to bring this to the attention of politicians; so let's hope they (the politicians) actually listen and think of what needs to be done all over the Planet: and not just say they will listen. Do something about it! Let's make 2026 the first of the "Love our Planet Years".
