Nice morning ....

9th June 2025 (Monday)    09.00 .... It's a lovely, quiet morning just now, but light rain with
(hopefully) a few sunny spells is forecast to move in by lunch time, and be with us until evening time.    I've  definitely got a 'bug' so will be lying low.   Got loads o' food, milk and bread.... so I could withstand a short siege.  This will be a rest day, pottering around Ivy, watching TV, sleeping in front of TV, and doing computer stuff now and again.... and drinking plenty fluids.
22.15    I've had a quiet day around Ivy.   I did a spot o' gardening, (sent some weeds for a holiday in the broon bin), watched the News;   and dozed off frequently.    I'm feeling brighter tonight than I did last night, so I think I'm 'on the mend'.
The News is (as usual nowadays) depressing: the killing goes on in Gaza .... and Ukraine.  Israeli civilians, of all ages, murdered on October 7th, and Palestinian civilians, of all ages, killed since, are all innocent lives snuffed out.    All Gods must despair at the attitude homo sapiens has for the amazing gift of life.   We might even be the only planet in the Universe with that gift.    I like to think there is life on some other planet; and that it's intelligent.   

There was some 'good news' today:  the Winter Payment for pensioners is, in most cases, being reinstated!  This means that I can set my central higher than 'RR' (18C) next winter and (hopefully) have fewer 'asthma moments'.   This News is very welcome, but I feel the Chancellor missed an opportunity to  be able to say she had really 'listened';  Pensioners would have appreciated that.  Instead, she chose to claim that conditions had improved, and the country could now afford to reinstate the Winter Payments.  I'm not complaining... it's just an opinion.

It has been a day of two halves;  nice and sunny in the morning then clouding over with rain moving in by the middle of the afternoon.   Tomorrow is to be brighter... and dry.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

Nice morning .....

4th January 2024 (Saturday)    09.15 .... The car windscreens is clear, the washing I left out Shona huggin' a huge Kilbrackmont tree! overnight is flapping about in the breeze, and my breathing easier.   The sky is mostly cloudy just now, but our weather forecast for today is "sunny intervals with a gentle breeze".    There's a Yellow Warning for snow active from midnight tonight through to midday on Monday;  though I imagine it will more likely be sleet, or rain,  for us.   'Sunny Sussex' and most of the South of England is covered by an Amber Warning for snow today, so most of the UK is likely to see snow at some point over the next few days. 20.00    Although not the best of drying days the washing was nearly dry by the end of the afternoon.   Earlier in the afternoon I'd gone to Methil to annoy Alice.  We had a cuppa before going shopping.  We went to Sainsbury's they have 'everything' and are trying ...
