Foggy and damp ....

26th June 2025 (Thursday)    08.15 .... We have a misty morning after a some overnight rain;

There's never a bus when you need one!
definitely not a not a good drying day at the moment!   But it could be a good drying afternoon;  because the sun is going to burn orf the mist and stuff, to give us a 'sunny intervals' afternoon.   At the moment its warm and humid, with only a light breeze, but the wind will freshen by the afternoon.

10.00    The cloud is slowly breaking up though, but it was raining (light) when I went to the 'paper shop'.... and it's muggy.   I didn't bother visiting the harbour,  because of the rain.

I am going to morning coffee after this update.   Leven Golfing Society is the venue for this months lunch outing for 'The Team';  (it's a long time since I last visited LGS).... we're setting off at 12.15.

19.45   As forecast we have had a nice, sunny and warm day after the light rain cleared away;  it would have been  a good drying afternoon right enough.   Forget the weather;  The Team's trip to Leven Golfing Society for lunch went brilliantly.   The first surprise was meeting Michelle (formerly of the 19th Hole)n who works there now.  She showed us through to the Dining Room.... oh my word.... the view is something else: overlooking the 18th Green with Lundin Links and Largo Law in the background.    Stunning.

We ordered drinks and food;  and chatted while watching golfers playing onto the 18th green, and just enjoyed the view, until the Waiter brought our lunch.   As expected the food was excellent, as was the service.  There wasn't a lot of people in for lunch but I imagine it could be busy in the evenings.   It was all very pleasant and enjoyable.   We will be back.   We found it very relaxing watching golfers.... in most cases missing their putts.

As is normal when Kirsty is driving we have a mystery tour on the way home:  so we set off for

Kennoway. ... but never got there.   We ended up meandering round the Northwest corner of Leven, the Linwood, Balmaise and Broom area before, arriving at the Scoonie roundabout and the A915... the main road to the East Neuk.   I saw bits of Leven I didn't even know existed, until today.   It was actually very interesting.   We went up Scoonie Brae and out onto the Cupar Road for a bit before turning right on to a country road that took us to Lundin Links... and the A915 again.  We stayed on the A915 for about 400 metres then turned left at the Lundin Links War Memorial and back on to country roads again.   The countryside is looking lovely;  everything green and bonnie looking.   We bumbles around some lovely country roads (all roads that I biked have on, up until a few years ago) ending up in Upper Largo... and the A915 again.   We stayed on the A915 for 150 metres then turned on to the St Andrews road which we followed until we reached Largoward.... and the Elie road junction.  Yes we went down towards home...  and arrived at Cairnie, and the A915 ... again.

Now, the Elie road junction is at Cairnie;   but Kirsty was in full touring mode, her passengers (Myra and me) were enjoying the scenery;  so we bumbled along the Colinsburgh straight (A915) making for Pittenweem.... but turned off at the Abercrombie junction and ended up at St Minnins.... where we turned right on to the A917.... the road to Elie and the Royal Burgh.  After a wander into Elie Estate to admire George's rhododendrons, Kirsty took a wee detour out to Woodhaven so that we could admire the, much photographed, Elie lighthouse.   A short stop in Elie, for Myra to get a few messages  at 'The Deli', and we were on the last lap, of what had been a really enjoyable 'Kirsty Mystery Tour'.

21.45   'The Team' had an interesting and enjoyable afternoon out for lunch; and I've been on roads that I enjoyed biking a few years ago.    I really enjoy Kirsty's Mystery Tours;  they're full of surprise 'twists and turns'.

Finally the sad news.   Derek's Celebration of Life Service is on the 9th July (11.30)  at the Brewesterwells Crematorium.   Derek was a happy boy and shared his happiness around;  we will all miss him.
