Damp .....

14th June 2025 (Saturday)    08.45 .... I certainly won't have to water the tubs today:  we have a

grey, wet start to Saturday.   'Light rain showers with a moderate breeze' is the weather forecast for KY9 today... and we should have sunny spells between the showers.    At the moment the sky is totally overcast with we have steady rain;  just what the countryside is badly needing.  I'm feeling much better this morning, and looking forward to going to Methil to 'annoy' Alice.    The sky is brightening already!

17.00    The roads were busy as this morning:  and there was a lot of water lying about after the rain last night. a lot of water on the roads this morning.   It was only light rain when I set off from 'The Ferry':  by the time I reached Upper Largo I was one of a line, of carefully driving vehicles travelling through a deluge.   And that's how it was until I reached Methil.   Alice and I had a cuppa, during the partaking of which we had one flash of lightning and roll of thunder. By the time we ready to go shopping the rain was slackening off.   Sainsbury's was busy but there were no hold ups at the checkouts, so it was a reasonably enjoyable shopping trip;  it certainly was a good day for shopping.  We went back to Alice's HQ and had lunch;  then studied all Alice's 'Diamond Art' projects she has going, whilst having after lunch coffee before I drove home.  The roads were a bit drier, and not as busy as usual.
Back at Ivy I sorted out the messages, made a cuppa.... and fell asleep in front of the TV for an hour and  half.  I must have been tired after all the work I've been doing in the garden.   The rain is still with us on and off;  but no 'sunny spells' so far.

21.30    It has been a grey old day day, but at least the rain has moved away:  tomorrow is going to be a day of 'sunny intervals with a moderate breeze' , although it could be damp first thing.
I watched the 'Trooping of the Colour' highlights earlier this evening;  there's no doubt about it .... no other country does military ceremony as we do.   We do good old fashioned, military precision, without any gimmicks.   Even the horses seem to do their bit automatically.   Amazing stuff.
I don't believe Wars solve anything, but I know that, in today's world we need a good, well financed  Navy, Army and Royal Air Force... to defend the country if required.   We already have the best people ready to do that job;  we must give them the best tools available to do it.   The World still has rogue Leaders with views of world domination.   Until that changes we have to be prepared.
