Lovely, sunny morning

2nd June 2025 (Monday)     08.15 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing 'sunny with a

scattering of fluffy clouds' this morning.... with the Lochgelly cam showing a bit more cloud to the West.   Precipitation is not mentioned in the weather forecast for KY9 today.    The breeze, a frisky one from the West.... is chillier than I wanted.   Should be a warm afternoon so I might get the bike out then.

11.00    The sky is cloudier than it was, so we now have 'sunny spells', with the chilly breeze.   I've been thinking about a few other other local  'wildlife' changes.   I remember the Collared Doves arriving locally in the 1960's, and they quickly became one of our common garden birds, until  a few years ago:  they have been displaced by, would you believe it, heavier built Wood Pigeons.  That said, I saw a single Collared Dove the other day so they are still around.   Magpies are now 'common' having been hunted for many years by the gamekeepers.   Especially on shooting estates.    Starlings used to be abundant but their numbers have declined, as have House Sparrows.

It's not only bird populations that are changing:Peacock Butterflies are now common, as are Speckled Wood Butterflies (Shell Bay Woods).  Of course, butterfly populations increase (and decrease) depending on how the weather is.   I remember, 2012 I think it was, there was a massive influx of Painted Lady butterflies (migratory butterflies from Africa):  a rough piece of ground, near Kinneuchar, obviously had the right wild flowers, because there were thousands of Painted Lady's  on that piece of ground.

21.0    I decided to do some 'work' in the front garden this afternoon;  and enjoyed myself.   That said. the next two days will most likely be 'rest days'.   the photo is the bit of garden 'before' being attacked.   I have still to take the 'after' photo.

I got a nice surprise this afternoon; Chris (Mennie) came to the door to tell me he had a young lady in the car..."would I like talk to her"?.   You bet I would;  it was Dorothy (Chris's Mum) whom I hadn't seen for a long time.   Dorothy's locomotion is restricted (worse than mine) and it was great to catch up.   We are going to arrange to have coffee, (with Myra) some morning.   When (and if) we can synchronise our activities.

Oh dear;  my work has caught up with me (actually it will be the weather).... I have a migraine coming on.   The sky has clouded over in the past couple of hours and we're to have rain overnight.   I'm likin' overnight rain!   Nae watering of tubs.   I'm going to take the pills for the migraine now, then settle down in front of the tele to catch up with the news.
