Lovely morning ....

13th June 2025 (Friday)    We have a 'bright, sunny and warm' morning, with a light Easterly

breeze (it's going to veer to the Westerly direction later) coming from warmer climes, hence the warmth.   It's not the best of breathing airs, but, hey ho.... it reminds me of Cyprus, and the happy days of National Service.   Long may this continue. Unfortunately.... the heat is to bring thunderstorms;  working their way up from the South over the next couple of days.

18.30    The mobility scooter was delivered today.   The boys let me see the bits and pieces , and had me reversing and playing around on the patio.  It was a tight fit coming in the front gate but that was because I'd left my car in the wrong place.    I'll take the gate off before I venture forth on it myself.   The roads were too busy in the afternoon anyway (and I wasn't feeling brave).   It will probably be Sunday before I go out on it to 'play' around ' The Ferry'.   It's going to be wet tomorrow, so that will be a shopping day with Alice.   The 'troops' went away (reminding me to read the Manual).   I then had lunch and read the Manual.

I seriously thought about having bash round the Ferry half an hour ago, but more heavy shower clouds started to drift over so that was that idea shelved for the day.  I've sorted the paper work and put the keys on key rings.  It's not the biggest size of mobility scooter, but it has a bag fitted to the seat to carry shopping etc. At least I will be able to go round the villages in comfort.   Apart from my obvious ailments, elderly people are going to be pay ever rising premiums for motor insurance:  and have to sit a driving test when  renewing their licence.... I'll probably keep the car for another winter.   I have to renew my Driving Licence next year.

21.30     I've had a better day;  I'm not bright eyed and bushy tailed yet, but will get there.   After all this is not the common 'flu... this was Man Flu.   Anyway I'm glad the scooter has arrived;  I might get out on it in the next few days.   My day is ending with a migraine.

With the world being awash with weaponry we're bound to have "Wars and the threat of Wars";  as is
happening now.   Unfortunately the ones that believe in Wars being the answer, are the ones with the deepest shelters.   Every year we remember  (and rightly so) the fallen of the 'War to End Wars' on November the 11th.  War isn't the answer!.... but warmongers don't understand that.  What I'm wondering about the next war is;  with all the extra money being spent on defence... will any of it be spent on protecting the civilian population?   We might get an updated version of the cold war Protect and Survive information booklet.   I suppose if they made the booklet big enough we could hide under it.
