Bright and breezy .....

Image
16th February 2020 (Sunday)        08.15 .... It is breezy but at least Bright and breezy morning. today’s wind should lift a lot of yesterday’s water;   “it’s an ill wind” etc.    At this time we have F6 out on the Firth but that is due to increase to F8 – 9 this evening not a day for this boy going to the beach I’m thinking.     I wonder what it’s like down there?     Must go ‘slight flap on’... got a beach to visit. 09.30     My word .... that got rid of all the cobwebs;    and half my hair with them.     It’s breezy down there but really enjoyable.... but   not the place to open a brolly.     Loads of fresh air and it isn’t too cold even in the wind;   that said I did have my warmest jacket on.    I took probably over 100 photographs ;   I should have a few decent ones but a lot of them will be OOF (out of focus) due to the...

15th February 2020 (Saturday)      09.00 .... I’ve been to the beach for a The calm before the storm. short walk before the weather becomes wet and really windy ..... in fact it began to spit rain at 08.50... about 10 minutes after I got back to Ivy.     Funnily enough it wasn’t that cold down there but the wind is lively..... and due to become livelier in the afternoon.     I will batten down the hatches after morning coffee and that will be me for the next couple of days I’m thinkin’:   it’s going to be a computer weekend. 15.00   There was only Geoff and me for morning coffee as Myra was away having her hair done:   but the boys were able to cope.   Alan had forgotten to do something this morrrrrrrning but it wasn’t catastrophic;   I don’t remember what it was he hadn’t done but it involved switching something important ‘on’. This afternoon .... windy and beginning to spit ra...

14th February 2020 (Friday)      09 .30 .... “St Valentine’s Day” .... good To 'You' from 'Me'  on this lovely day. old St Valentine he had the right idea “love is all we need”;   so ... loads of ‘love’ to everyone this lovely day.   I’m sending out heaps good old fashioned ‘love’ feelings from Earlsferry to everyone .... wherever you are   on Mother Earth.     Love, Hugs and xxxx’s to you all.     I can hardly believe it;   I slept in this morning .... until 07.45.     I must have really enjoyed myself last night because I fell asleep thinking of ‘The Royal Burgh’ and how lucky I am to live here in such an interesting auld place.     I wonder if I missed a bonnie sunrise this morning?     I’ll have to check the weather cams. We have a nice enough h morning.... mostly overcast but dry and breezy.... a sort of ‘calm before the storm’ I suppose.   It was caul...

'Dreich' .... with an Easterly breeze....

13th February 2020 (Thursday)       08.30 .... there's a serious touch of Wet Bank Street - Elie. dreichness about the weather this morning;  overcast with rain coming in on a northeast breeze .... not a morning for the beach.    The weather is forecast to improve by midday and the wind back to the Northwest in the evening.    I have ‘arbour ‘ouse to look forward to in the morning and the Drop in Cafe in the afternoon with a wee bit shopping at ‘The Store’ in Anstruther in between.... a fairly busy day because I have computer stuff to do too. 13.30     Geoff and I enjoyed morning coffee in ‘arbour ‘ouse:   Myra had other things to do.... getting the car MOT’d being one of the things to do.... so ‘the boys’ were leaderless;   however we did manage to cope with morning coffee on our own. George and \I went to ‘The Store’;    it was fairly busy and I met Edith (M’s wee sister) and caught up with ...

Lovely sunrise ....

12th February 2020 (Wednesday)      09.30 .... The garden thermometer 10 minutes before sunrise. is showing 4C just now but with the wind chill it feels more like 1C;   having said that it is a bonnie morning but cold.     We had a cracker of a sunrise, some braw colours, but a “red sky in the morning etc”   means Storm Dennis is on his way in. I did the washing and it is/was on the line when I last looked;   I did put extra pegs on it just in case.     It should dry fairly quickly and I might even get it ironed after lunch.     Must go.... got to get the papers. 11.30     I don’t believe me.    I went to the garage to fuel up the car, but the pump kept switching off so I gave up after £1.20... intending to the car to the garage.     Christine, who was on duty in the shop, said she would have a go:   yep .... fuel went in ‘nae bother’.    I d...

Windy with snow/sleet showers ....

11th February 2020 (Tuesday) .... 08.00    On this date in 55 AD Squally shower approaching 'The Ferry'. Tiberius Claudius Ceasar Britannicus popped his clogs in mysterious circumstances and Nero became Emperor.... in 1806 William Grenville became Prime Minister (UK) after William Pitt the Younger died ... and ... in 1852 the first public toilet for female use was opened (in Bedford Street London).    Meanwhile we have a really wintry feel to the weather;   I very much doubt if this boy will go very far today.    The sleet/snow showers should fade out by mid morning but it’s going to be windy (again) and cold. 10.30    We have a ‘bright and very breezy' morning now  and I am contemplating a daunder to the beach.   At this time the wind is F7 out in the Firth (Ocean Greatwhite) that’s roughly 38 mph.... and it’s cold with the temperature on Ivy garden being 3.5C.    I think I migh...

Windy and colder ....

10th February 2020 (Monday)     07.00 .... Having been out as far as the Elie Lighthouse this afternoon. front gate I know that it’s windy...  it’s colder .... and, with sleet showers mentioned in the forecast for KY9 it looks like being a computer day for this boy.   I had thought of going to Kirkcaldy but there’s more chance of sleet/snow along there so that mission has been postponed until the weather clears up. 12.30    My word .... that was one wild sleet shower that rattled over;  I am glad that I didn’t go to Kirkcaldy.    I haven’t been ‘out’ yet .... not even as far as the car and that’s just at the gate.    I will go for a circumnavigation of the villages after lunch but I’m thinkin’ that any photographs I do take will be from inside the cosy car.   I have been working on the computer most of the morning..... and will do the same for most of the afternoon.  18.00...
