Nice morning ....

20th May 2026 (Wednesday)      09.30 .... It's a nice, quiet morning here at KY9, a nice morning for

being 'out and about'.    And joggers have been out enjoying the early morning peace, pattering sown, and up, Ferry Road.    Me? .... I'm ready to got for my booster jab;   I'm wondering if I should go to The Store first, and do some shopping..   This is a holiday weekend.

16.00    That's the COVID seen off for another six months;  and this was the fastest I have ever been 'done'..   I son't think I was in the building 5 minutes.    And that's going at the speed I move at!  I met Dave (Leitch) and Anna (from Elie) on the way out.   I gave Dave a run home, Anna was going to The Store.   I'd found out that this is another  Monday holiday weekend, so not quite as stressful as the Friday and Monday Holiday weekends.   The only hold up, was  the temporary traffic lights, where Bob Hanley's garage is being demolished.    When I worked at the Craw's Nest, I used to get my car serviced at Bob's.    It's not just Earlsferry that's changing.   There's a fair old piece of ground behind where the garage was;  room for a small housing development.

Pittenweem.
It was good chatting to Dave;  he is more active than me, and still plays golf.   I suppose I could play golf if I hired a buggy.   Never thought about that until now.     That said, I have no intention of playing;  I have too many other things I need to get on with.

It has been a lovely day, with only a few spits and spots of rain a couple of times.   It never developed into a shower.... and, didn't water the tubs.

I was thinking I might take a turn to Leven  tomorrow, but the pedestrian crossing at Sainsbury's,  is being worked on, so there's temporary traffic lights at the Bawbee Brig roundabout.   It will probably be 'The Store' (Ainster) , even though there are temporary traffic lights in Pittenweem.

19.30    I certainly have had a restful afternoon;  most of it has been spent sleeping.   That's normal for me after a booster jab.   Now? .... I'm wide awake!   It's a nice evening , so being wide awake anyway, I'm going to have an evening coffee in The Hutte.

The House Martins and Swallows are back in numbers now (I spotted my first Swallow a couple of
weeks ago), but I have yet to see any Swifts.   The biggest loss to Elie and Earlsferry? ....  breeding Swifts.    It's the evocative sound they made, late in a summer evening when they flew over, in a large flock (sometimes 'scream'), getting the young ready for migration.   I miss the sound of their wings, and screeching, as the flew  over the rooftops at speed;  a sign that summer was coming to an end.
