Cloudy and damp ....

3rd May 2026 (Sunday)     10.00 .... The sky is overcast,  and it has been raining

overnight, but its fair now.    Light rain is forecast for the morning, but dry in the afternoon with (let's be positive) sunny spells in the afternoon!   There's a light Easterly breeze so it  will be cool on the beach.    Me? ..... I'm going to potter around Ivy in the morning, then see that the weather is like in the afternoon.   I doubt if I'll take 'The Buggy' out today;  Ferry Road has been busy;  with cars, joggers and walkers.

12.00    It is chilly out (I've been as far as the gate) so I won't be going anywhere this afternoon.    However, we get a respite from the East wind  tomorrow, as the wind is veering to the West, but only for one day!    

I forgot to mention the snooker!    Last night Mark Allen had to pot the black to win through to the Final, 17 frames to 15, against Wu Yize from China.   He missed it and Wu Yize potted to make it 16 all in frames.  Wu Yize then won the last frame and plays Shaun Murphy (England) in the Final starting today.   Exciting game is snooker.  Ferry Road is still busy .... with cars!

16.15    I fancied going up to the seat at the 17th green, but there's a big drop in temperature today, and the Easterly breeze makes it feel even colder.   When I think of it, everyone going up and down Ferry Road are wearing heavy jackets.     I imagine the beach will be quiet:  I don't intend going down to find out.   And the walk up to the 17  has been cancelled.    Sunny spells? .... not at the moment!    I'll put the kettle 'on'.


20.00    The sunny spells arrived about 18.00 and we now have a bonnie, albeit cold, evening.   The light breeze is still from the East so I can't go up to the seat at the 17th green.   Anyway, the evening session of the snooker is on BBC2 and I'm watching that.    The Final finishes tomorrow. 

The weather forecast is good for tomorrow;  and warmer!    I might do a small washing, in fact I'll wash it tonight so that it's ready to hang out first thing in the morning.   The 'broon' and bloo  bins go out tonight;  I must remember to do my broon one..    I'll do it after this update.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
