Bright and breezy .....
16th May 2026 (Saturday) 09.15 ..... It's a nice morning, with light cloud and long sunny
intervals just now. It is warm in the sun, but cool out in the open. This is going to be another rest day; but, and this is good weather news; a change of wind direction is coming, bringing warmer air our way. I'm hoping it's a long spell of warmer weather; not a 'hot snap'. Off to put the kettle 'on' and have morning coffee in The Hutte.15.45 It has been a lovely, sunny and war, day. That said, the breeze has freshened do there's a bit of wind chill to contend with; especially on the beach. I was thinking of getting The Buggy out Ferry Road has been busy, and the chill breeze put me off that idea.
I did go out in the car in the morning; only to the parking place i use at the junction of the Kinneuchar Station road and the Elie road. I noticed a lot of St Mark's flies (Bibio marchi), they fly with their legs dangling; and an Orange Tipped butterfly, but didn't get a photo of either of them.
The countryside is starting to look it's best again, with fresh greens of all shades all around. And next years cones on the pine trees!
I've been catching up with 'paper work' this afternoon; including applying to renew my 'Blue Badge'. Still got the photograph to take, but other than that it's done. It will be 2029 before I have to go through this rigmarole again.
I'm going to have a cuppa in The Hutte. A migraine kicked in after lunch and a couple of pills will get rid of the headache. Migraine's aren't a 'nae weelness'; but they are a nuisance.
19.30 Rain is forecast to pass over us overnight; and I expect it to be heavy enough to water the rubs. If it isn't water them in the morning. I'm feeling positive.... bring on the rain!
I feel satisfied with today's efforts; I mean I have actually done something that had to be done!
Tomorrow I will take a 'head and shoulders' photograph of myself and send it, the application, off. It's hard to believe but I'm tired tonight!

Today's photographs: Top - this years fir cones, Middle - the 'lime'green line of trees are in fact lime (sometimes linden) trees that line the 'Auld Kirk Road or, more recently the 'Back Road', into Balcarres Estate. I think it was the Auld Kirk Road that the inhabitants of Nether Rires (now Colinsburgh) used, to get to the Rires Chapel (St Mary's?) that was situated in Castle Park. In fact the 'road' was still in use in the 1970's by Estate families to go to Colinsburgh, including Colinsburgh Kirk! The 'car' put an end to the 'Auld Kirk Road'. Bottom - Balcarres Mains former cottar houses.
