Light cloud ....

8th May 2026 (Friday)    "Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough".

10.15   It's a nice morning, mostly light cloud, but we do get short spells of sunshine now and again.    At the moment the breeze is light and from the SW, but is forecast to veer to the North later in the afternoon.   It's nit as warm as I'd like it to be.    I have a blood test  at 11.40;  that will be my only outside mission today.   And I must remember to stop at the Chemist on the way home.   'Slight Flap on' now;  need to have morning coffee.

15.00    It's a bonnie, sunny day... and it's warm.    I've had my blood taken, and then went out to Woodhaven Car Park to get  a few photies.    Ir was busy with people doing the Coastal Path;  and others having a daunder round the east links.   Loads of people to chat too.

On the way home I remembered to stop at the Chemist ro pick up my prescription.   That was a nice surprise;   I usually forget.   As ever  nowadays Elie High Street was busy with traffic, and holiday makers enjoying the sun.   I bumbled my way home by the Elie Road and the Ferry Road, and had a lite bite lunch.

The results of the UK wide local elections are coming in;  and the Reform Party appears to be doing as predicted.;  picking up Seats!   Labour are also doing as predicted;  losing Seats all over the place.    The Tories are losing Seats;  but not quite as fast as Labour.    The Greens? .... they are picking up Seats and generally being their happy selves!.   Lib Dems?.... seem to be doing well;  NE Fife has yet to declare!   (Slow counters in Fife! ).   The SNP?  they  are talking about Independence!.

19.45    Williw Rennie held North East Fife for the Lib Dems;  all is good in NE Fife.   And, things are ticking over nicely at Ivy too.   I've been sitting in The Hutte most of the afternoon, researching from a couple of books, and doing a Soduko now and again.

On this date 68 years ago I arrived at  Aldershot to begin my National Service in the RASC (Royal Army

Service Corps).    I enjoyed my National Service, all the way through;  yes even the marching on the parade ground.   The sound of a lot of feet matching on a parade ground was something else.   In those days we had 'tackety' boots.

We enjoyed  a long  hot summer all through our training.   Must of our training involved learning office routine,... such as touch typing.    After training I got a Special Posting and ended up in a small office at GHQ MELF.   Happy days indeed!   You can see from the photograph that the UK was in safe hands.

The Top and Middle photos were taken at Woodhaven Car Park.

22.30    I've been watching the Birthday Concert for Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday,  on BBC1;  it was brilliantly done.   And thank you Sir David. and all the camera operatives, technicians and others behind the scenes, including the tea makers;  for bringing the life on Mother Earth....  into our lives .
