Windy .....

30th January 2026 (Friday)    09.45 ..... At the moment we have a windy and overcast morning; 

and light rain with a fresh wind is forecast for the whole day.  I haven't given much thought to a 'plan' for today;  I suspect any 'plan' will involve switching the kettle 'on' a few times.    I'll have a run up to the 'Paper Shop' sometime, but right now the kettle is about to be switched 'on'!

19.30    This has been another day of uninspiring weather;  although we didn't have many spells of rain ,it was windy and grey.    We need a spell of sunny weather!    I set off to go to Leven to do some shopping, but I noticed that the sky was much greyer in that direction, so ended up going to 'The Store'.   I never see anyone I know in 'The Store';  in fact I have more chance of seeing someone I know in the Leven shops.

I did the wee bit shopping I wanted and (plus a couple of extras that fell into the trolley.   I came home by the coast road (instead of the 'back road) and was back in Ivy in time for a late 'morning coffee. 

After morning coffee I did a bit of 'ousework, then had a chicken sandwich for lunch.   I'm happy with my skinny arms and legs.... not so happy with the rather well developed stomach:  hence the 'diet'.   I had cod ish finger with tautties and veg for dinner;  plus one of the items that fell into the trolley;  a small trifle for dessert.  

 Shona appeared not long after lunch;  just as I was about the have a cuppa.  Catching up with what was going on in Kinneuchar took a good hour and a half.   And yet, according to Shona, nothing has been happening in Kinneuchar.   She did say that Kinneuchar had 'changed' in the past 5 years or so:  with 'new locals' moving in.    

22.30    Having had a look at tomorrow's weather forecast, I can say that I won't be going fat!  Why?..... because we're to have another day of 'light rain  with a fresh wind'.     It will be a computer day for me.   Talking about the weather reminds me that 'Carole (BBC Weather Girl) is retiring in April!    She has been with the BBC weather Team since 1998, and will be missed.   She and her husband want to go travelling:  hopefully a book might come next.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
