Nice morning ....
1st January 2026 (Thursday) I'll begin by Wishing all my readers a "Happy and Healthy Year 2026".
11.00 We seemed to have a quiet Hogmanay in Earlsferry; at least it was from where I was, (in my bed reading a book). I heard four 'bangs' at midnight' and that was it. And I didn't hear anyone going down Ferry Road. That said, I didn't have my hearing aids in, so it might have been noisier. I went to bed at 23.30 after watching "Auld Lang Syne" - how it took over the World'. That was a really interesting programme; with Dougie Vipond travelling round the World to find out why 'Auld Lang Syne' is so popular. I thought the Japaneses Lassies Choir were outstanding; the worst version? (by a long way) was 'The Lord's Prayer', sung to the tune of Auld Lang Syne, by Cliff Richard.
We have a quiet morning; there;s a layer of thin cloud just now, but sunny intervals forecast, and a fresh NW wind. The sun is burning off the light cloud so we should have sunshine shortly. But it's going to be cold in the brisk wind. This mean that I shall be 'confined to barracks' most of the day.
Sadly, there always seems to be something horrific happens around Christmas and New Year and this Hogmanay year it's a disastrous fire in a bar in Switzerland My thoughts are with all the people involved with all the families of those killed, injured and affected by that fire.
13.30 I've had a quiet, enjoyable, morning watching the Annual Concert from Vienna; now I'm going to have a light lunch. It's a lovely sunny day now, but very cold in the brisk wind. That hasn't stopped people from going out; I've seen loads of folk going up, and down, Ferry Road. Me?....I'm going to venture out, as far as the patio thermometer: I'd like to go down to Nana's seat but but it's too cold to go that far.
