Windy ....

25th January 2026 (Sunday)    267th anniversary of Robert Burns birth (1759).

09.30    We have a windy but dry start to the day.... and the roads are dry.    "Light rain with a moderate

wind (E)" is forecast.... with a chance of sunny spells.   The barometer has moved away from pointing at 'Rain':  he first decent move for a couple of weeks.  I expect we'll have showers in between the sunny spells.   That said we have yet to actually have a sunny spell!

20.00    The weather has been disappointing;  nae 'sunny spells'.   Tomorrow's weather is going to be much the same.   There's a chance of 'sunny spells' but I'm not going to get the dun cream out!

I enjoyed visiting, and chatting to  Alice;  and we went to Sainsbury's to do a wee bit o' shopping.   That was probably when the weather was at it's best....'almost a sunny spell'.

Alice had a Steak Pie organised for lunch;  with all the trimmings and that went down a treat.    This was a proper Steak Pie, not one of the individual ones that I buy now and again.

I'm surprised at President Trump refusing to actually apologise, for what he said about the  UK and NATO troops  in Afghanistan.   I thought  he would be 'man' enough to admit  that what he said was wrong.   A couple of Americans (on the television) said that he 'isn't like that:  i.e. he doesn't apologise!    That's sad.

My afternoon has been quiet.   I got back to Ivy (from Methil) about 14.00 and got the messages in before the rain came.   As expected, I fell asleep after making a cuppa and switching the television 'on'.   When I woke up I ended up watching the film 'Escape from Sobibor '.

I have a letter to post, so will have to go up to Elie to catch the PO van tomorrow;  I think that's at 11.30.   If the weather is not too bad I might have a short walk round the kirkyard to take a few photies.   The weather forecast for this week is 'mixed'.

I'm thinkin' it's time I had a cuppa.... and one of the goodies that fell into the shopping
trolley today today.

22.30   'Burns Night', on BBC Scotland tonight was excellent!  There was a  good selection of his songs by different artistes backed by the Scottish Symphony Orchestra, bairns reciting 'To a Mouse', Grant Stott doing the 'Immortal Memory', and Kirsty Wark the 'Address to the Haggis'.   This reminded me of my Granddaughter Emily doing The Address to the Haggis, at one of the Sussex Burn's Suppers Michael (son) does down in sunny Sussex.  Yes;  'Burns Night  was an enjoyable hour.
Grant mentioned the Burns Federation Certificate:  I got it.... a long time ago!   I'm a happy boy tonight.
