Nice morning .....
8th January 2026 (Thursday) 09.45 .... At the moment, the sun is trying to break through thin
cloud;but not having much success. The temperature (shade) is - 1.9C just now, after a low of -2.2C overnight. The weather forecast for KY9 (my playground) is "light cloud and light winds", And it's to be cold.I hope to go out (in the car) around midday: Ian hoping that the sun breaks through! The main 'plan' for the day is to do some 'ousework; however, I'm feeling sluggish at the moment, so a mug o' coffee is the next mission.
12.30 The temperature has gone up to 0.4C so it's above freezing .... but not bu much, and the car windscreen id still frozen. I doubt if I'll be going out today. .... the pavements (and roads) will be slippery where they don't get the sun. I've done some 'ousework (oiled the front and back door locks and hinges) but can't really get going. Actually, we have a nice sunny day now, and it's reasonably warm in the sun because there's hardly any wind; but cold in the shade.
19.00 It has been a nice day; but a cold one. I had run up to Chapel green (in the car) and had a short walk about. It was actually pleasant at the time, because there was very little wind so hardly any wind chill.
Storm Goretti is going to hit Southern half of England and the Channel Islands later today; it's being called a 'weather bomb'. A big "Thank you" to the BBC weather forecaster whom explained what a 'weather bomb' is: it's when barometric pressure, at the centre of a low pressure area, drops 24 millibars, in 24 hours. That's what is starting to hit the southern half of England just now.
It has been a bit too cold for me today; that said the heating is as 20C so I'm warm enough; in fact too warm at times because I fall asleep easily when I should have been 'working'. Tomorrow is going to be another cold day for us, with light rain and sunny spells in the weather forecast. It could be a good day for me doing some more 'work'.
