Wet and windy ....
22nd January 2026 (Thursday) 09.00 .... We have a wild, wet and windy morning; and it to
be' wet and windy' all day. It's a day for this boy staying 'in and warm'. I have housework to catch up with, and work to do on the computer. I might have a run up to Chapel Green in the car at some point, but only if the weather moderates a bit. And I don't think that is going to happen today.13.15 It has been windy and wet most of the morning!..... but the rain stopped about an hour ago and I had a short walk up to the golf course. I didn't expect to see anyone on the course but; then I remembered that it never rains on the golf course. Golfers were on the second green. As you can see by the flag, although it wasn't raining, (if it had been I wouldn't have been up there) it was windy!
I'm going back to watch the News; there's a lot going on today. But I'll take time out to make a cuppa first!
16.45 The wind had moderated a wee bit when I went up to the gold course, but it has freshened again, and, by the sound of it, we're in for a wild nigh! I have had a 'lazy' day, but the TV has been interesting. I also did some housework, and had my afternoon siesta. I haven't been bored!
All this talk on the News about Greenland had me searching for why Greenland is called 'Greenland'. Because it's only 'green' at the southern tip. I was probably taught that at school .... er ...a long time ago! Anyway It turns out that it was a piece of marketing by 'Erik the Red', a 10th century Viking explorer, (probably from Iceland), to attract settlers to the new land! And I thought being ripped off was a modern problem!
19.30 In spite of the weather, and having to stay in, I've had a reasonably busy day. Tomorrow's weather is going to be 'more of the same', near enough ...."heavy rain with strong winds". However the wind is not going to be as strong as it has been today. Fife is on the edge of a Yellow Warning for rain so it isn't going to be a good drying day!
President Trump had a signing ceremony with his 'Board of Peace' Members. The 'Board of Peace' is a, sort of a Private
Members Club version, of the United Nations. It costs a country one billion dollars to have a permanent seat on the Board. If it brings 'Peace and Love' to the World I'd be very happy! Will it do that?
