Lovely morning .....

2nd January 2026 (Friday)    10.00 .... It's a lovely morning, but definitely chilly!    It was - 2.8C

when I looked at the thermometer half an hour ago ;  and it had been down to - 3.9C overnight so it's a wrap up well day.     I've had a grand 'Walk with the Weatherman'  round part of Pembrokeshire  (Wales).  'The Weatherman',  Derek Brockway a Welshman, was accompanied by a local Guide. so it was educational as well as healthy exercise;  be my 'exercise' for today.   I think it was the last, of what has been a brilliant Series..."Weatherman Walking".


21.30     It was reasonably warm in the sun in the middle of the afternoon,  so I had a wander up to the seat at the 17th green.   There was a lot of people out walking at that time;  and I met George Dunsire, from Colinsburgh, whom I haven' see n for a long time.   He is well, but like me is starting to slow down.   I caught up with George's 'Colinsburgh News' then he louped into his cat and set off for home:  I wandered the last few metres to Ivy, and a hot cuppa!   

This frosty spell is to be with us for another few days:  when I think about it, it's a while since we've had a longish spell of frosty weather.   And there's proper snow up North;   I imagine Iain and Jackie will have taken a  few 'snow' photographs today.

Tomorrow is going to be 'tidy up' day for me;  get back to normal with Christmas cards taken down and browsed through.   I had one bit of tinsel draped round a picture so that too will be put away, until next Christmas.

When I go out for a walk I must remember to put in the hearing aids that Michael bought me.   They do help me hear better, but the ones I'm getting from the NHS will be set to my lugs and should make my hearing  almost as it should be.   I get them in February.

Another cold day tomorrow, but I might have a short walk in the afternoon;  it depends on the wind ...
and the chill factor.   The temperature is forecast to be a couple of degrees above freezing in the shade.  I think it got up to 2.1 C this afternoon (in the shade). 

It's Horlicks time;  and see if I can find some thing to watch on TV when having it.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
