Overcast and damp ....

7th January 2026 (Wednesday)     09.15 .... It's grey, damp  start to the morning, but it

isn't
actually raining, and it isn't frosty., but it looks like rain isn't far away. The temperature is 3.1C just now.    I'll go to Methil to visit Alice;  and we'll go to Leven to do some shopping.    I've still got a lot of food in the freezer compartment so don't really need much;  other that milk and  bread etc.  I'm feeling 'playful' but I don't think the weather is going to suit my playful mood.   Anyway this, and the next few days are going to be tidying up days,  after the Christmas and New Year break.

17.00    I've had an enjoyable day visiting Alice.   I drove through sleet and rain both going to Methil and coming home.    The journey home was the worst;  it was sleet in Upper Largo but snow atop Largo Law.   We had  a spell of sunshine when in Leven shopping:  but mostly it has been a 'dreich' sort of day.

20.00    I must have been busy today;  I slept for an hour and a quarter this afternoon.    It was a good kind o' day for sleeping, so I'm not complaining.    I intend doing things tomorrow: that said it's to be cloudy and cold with a light breeze.   I have washing to do so I might do that if it looks liked being reasonable drying day.   The problem is the short number of daylight hours at this time of year.

I was hoping that 2026 would be a year of 'Peace and Loving Mother Earth''  but, sadly, the first six days of the year suggest it's not going to be a year of ''peace and love':.   It  looks like we're to have another year of more of "Man's inhumanity to man, makes countless thousands mourn!". (From the  poem 'Man was made to mourn by Robert Burns).   I don't know how some politicians can sleep at night!   However, they might look back sometimes, and think about their past actions... or lack of!

Today's photies are from the Alberto Archive.   Top - Elie Lighthouse.  The building(s) in the background

are to do with the North end of an undersea cable used to detect enemy submarines.   Middle - Jimmy Braid the golfer:  five times 'The Open' winner, looking down on his beloved 'Earlsferry'.   Bottom - Elie High Street.

I'm beginning to feel more relaxed again after the Seasonal break;  tomorrow I'll have a good old tidy up;  and get back to the normal 'me'.
