Sunny and cold ....

3rd January 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 ..... The thermometer is reading 0.2C at present, after being

down at -5.4C overnight.   I'm going out to check that 'low' reading again;  I know it was cold overnight but that does seem awfie low!   I'll put the kettle 'on' when I'm at that end o' the hoose!    I'm back! ..... it 's cauld oot by the way.... and the thermometer overnight low was -5.4C.   The sun is up so the temperature should start to creep up a bit  , but it's always going to be cold today, especially in the moderate NW wind.   I won't be going up to the seat at the 17th until the afternoon!

The International News this morning is almost unbelievable;  the USA attacking Venezuela, and according to President Trump capturing the Venezuelan President and his wife.  I'm off to make a cuppa!

15.00    The walk up to the seat at the 17th had been cancelled;  its too cold in the frisky windy.   At the moment the thermometer is at 2.5C, but, exposed to the wind, and the windchill, it feels like - 3.   I even wrap up just to go o the front gate.

I had run to Kinneuchar then home by Balbuthie for a change of scene, but never left the car.   The photie of Kinneuchar kirk is the only one I I have taken today.... so far.    I might go down to Ferry Corner around sunset time.

Quiet morning ....

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
