Nice morning ....

7th July 2025 (Monday)    08.30 .... I got up early this morning, to go 'roond The Ferry' on the

Mobility Scooter (it needs a 'name');  the sun had just broken through the clouds at that time (06.45), but the roads were quiet.  It was quite chilly.   Going round 'The Royal Burgh' is easy;  but I'm not quite ready to tackle Elie yet.

19.00   The air has been mauchless for most of the day;  however a heavy shower o' rain about an hour ago cleared the air and we have a nice, fresh, evening.

I went to Methil because Alice and I both needed to go shopping;  not for food this time, though Alice did buy a couple of  Sainsbury's cheese rolls to convert into a toastie for lunch.   We both go everything we went for;  and enjoyed the 'Alice Toastie' lunch.... followed by Alice's home made fruit cake and a cuppa.

20.30   Tomorrow would appear to be the start of spell of warm, dry weather;  summer weather.   The East Neuk villages, including Elie and Earlsferry, are busy with holiday makers;  and the roads are even busier than they were.   I'm thinking that Fife is going to be similar to Cornwall in the summertime.  Maybe not quite as busy (as Cornwall) but certainly much busier than we have been used to.  July 2027 should be interesting;  'The Open' is at St Andrews.

22.00    I don't 'plan' to go out early on the Scooter tomorrow morning;   but will go out, later in the morning, on the bike once the air warms up.   Iain is coming down tomorrow afternoon, for Derek's Celebration of Life service on Wednesday.   I'll have a 'scoot' up to Elie sometime after that.   It's really braw sitting on the scooter and moving at walking speed;  not 'iggzactly' great exercise, but is mentally stimulating.   I still have the bike, and the 'exercise pedals', so do 'exercise';  but nothing like I did, even just a couple of years ago.

After many years wondering which bird is the stupidest;  the Pheasant or the Wood Pigeon.  I think I now know
the answer to that question.   It's the Wood Pigeon!   Yesterday, when driving along Links Place (Earlsferry)  I saw a Wood Pigeon, 'stood staunin' in the middle of the road.   I slowed down; it's 20 mph limit so I'd be doing about 15 mph, when it eventually took off.  For the next 50 metres at least the pigeon was doing about 17 mph.   How do I know this?.... because it's feather butt was approximately 3 feet in front of the car windscreen, as it casually flapped along.    Actually, having thought about it, the 'Woodie' might not be the stupidest (it didn't stay to get run over); but it's certainly entertaining!
