Cloudy with showers ....

19th July 2025 (Saturday)     08.15 .... There's a good chance of interesting shower clouds today; 

thundery showers are forecast from midday onwards.    Just now it's warm and humid, with sunny spells and occasional light showers.... a nice enough morning for the beach.  High tide is at 09.34 so there will be a big beach in the afternoon.   Right now we have a peaceful kind of morning with only a light Easterly breeze;   hopefully the showers will be 'few and far between'.

12.30    I went to Elie (in the car) to the Chemist;  the 'Paper Shop' was busy so I didn't bother with a paper and went to The Toft and the Harbour.   The High Street was busy with traffic....  Andrew and Gareth were setting up the 'book stall' at the kirk gates.   I decided to go to the harbour then visit the bookstall on the way home.    Unfortunately the High Street was chaotic by then so I came home by way of Park Place, Elie Road  and Ferry Road.   

The weather has deteriorated since I was out, and we have had a spell of rain ,including a really heavy shower.  It's still warm and humid.   And there has been a lightning strike near Kirkcaldy so thunder is around, albeit scattered.

15.30    The interesting shower clouds I'd hoped for are somewhere else;  we've had heavy rain for a while now.   It's a dreich, thundery head ache day now.   I've been watching Stage 14 of le Tour, a mountain Stage (Pyrenees)  with four big climbs.   They have 30 or so kilometres to the 'Finish' so I'll make a cuppa and watch that.   The weather is causing them problems too;  climbing into mist and rain at the tops of the climbs.    My work schedule?..... it's behind where it should be!   The Pollen, Ultra Violet and Pollution levels are 'low'.

19.30    The 'interesting clouds' that I was hoping for never materialised;  not here anyway.   I'm glad I went to the harbour and got the common old clouds that we had then.   The harbour was busy because I was later than usual (had to go to the Chemist) and Elie Water Sports was starting to get active;  and the skiffs were out.

I never got all the work done I planned to do today;  the gloomy weather, and the thundery headache,
had me cat napping more than usual.  I'm feeling fresh now so I'm going to make up the wee bed.;  and work tomorrow.

22.15   It should be an interesting final round at The Open tomorrow;  and Stage 15 of le Tour is a hilly Stage.    I'm going to have busy day tomorrow!   Might even manage some work.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

Nice morning .....

4th January 2024 (Saturday)    09.15 .... The car windscreens is clear, the washing I left out Shona huggin' a huge Kilbrackmont tree! overnight is flapping about in the breeze, and my breathing easier.   The sky is mostly cloudy just now, but our weather forecast for today is "sunny intervals with a gentle breeze".    There's a Yellow Warning for snow active from midnight tonight through to midday on Monday;  though I imagine it will more likely be sleet, or rain,  for us.   'Sunny Sussex' and most of the South of England is covered by an Amber Warning for snow today, so most of the UK is likely to see snow at some point over the next few days. 20.00    Although not the best of drying days the washing was nearly dry by the end of the afternoon.   Earlier in the afternoon I'd gone to Methil to annoy Alice.  We had a cuppa before going shopping.  We went to Sainsbury's they have 'everything' and are trying ...
