Dreich start to the morning ....

20th July 2025 (Sunday)     08.00 .... It's a wet morning with low cloud coming in from the North

Sea;  however the weather forecast is "light rain showers with a gentle breeze", so we should have sunny spells between the light showers!   At present we have drizzle;  to be honest it's a dreich old start to Sunday.    Strangely enough I feel like 'working' today, so that might make up for the lack of 'feeling like working yesterday'!    My ailments are all in the right places, and I actually feel reasonably frisky.

11.30     I've sorted the beds, which was my target for today;  that and some hooverin' and dustin'.     The "H & D" will be done after morning coffee, which I am having as I do this update.

The weather is still 'damp'and mauchless', but it is supposed the brighten up after midday;  that's in 33 minutes!   (It's 11.27 on the computer clock).   I'd hoped to do a washing sometime today, but the weather is not 'iggzactly' co-operating.   I might wash one of the sheets and the pillow cases, dangle them over a screen in The Hutte, until the weather turns 'bright sunny .... and not mauchless'.

20.00    It has been a lovely day .... but my word, it turned hot in the afternoon; 25.1C .... far too hot, and sultry, for me.   One thing the heat did do was dry the washing I hung out.   That reminds me;  I have that to iron.   I'll do it after this update.    When bringing the washing in I noticed that the Easterly breeze had freshened in the last couple of hours, and so it's cool now.

During the heat of the afternoon I watched le Tour, and cat napped.

I got a surprise phone call this morning from Ethel, my cousin from Alford (Aberdeenshire).   I thought she was phoning from Aberdeenshire;  but I was wrong.   Ethel and Doug (hubby and personal slave) are staying in a cottage at The Toft!   I haven't seen Ethel and Doug since before COVID so we will have a lot of catching up to do.

As planned I have done some 'ousework for Janice and Michael arriving on Wednesday:  but I am pacing myself.   It doesn't take much 'work', for me to need a couple of days rest.  I might do some 'ooverin' and dustin' next;  but I have loads o' time....  Flap One state hasn't cut in so far!

22.15    I'm looking forward to seeing Ethel and Doug tomorrow;  once again the weather forecast is
mixed;  "light showers with a gentle Easterly breeze", so it will probably be hot in the afternoon.    It's going to be a rest day for me.... catching up with all the news from Alford.
