Wall to wall blue sky .....
12th July 2025 (Saturday) 07.50 .... It's beautiful, sunny and warm (15C already) morrrrrrrrrrrning.... with a light Easterly breeze. The breeze will freshen to a nice cooling air in the afternoon. The villages could be overwhelmed with sun worshipper making for the beach and water sports. It's definitely a sun cream day for those that are out in the sun. And .... it's also a brilliant 'drying day'.
19.00 It has been a (mostly) warm and sunny day; I say 'mostly' because the haze mentioned in the weather forecast did turn out to be haar..... low cloud off the sea, and a chilly air and damp air (not good beach weather) driven in on a moderate Easterly wind. Tomorrow's weather is going tom be sunny with a moderate (ENE) wind so it could be cool on the beach.
My trip to Leven, and Methil to see Alice was an outstanding success but ... and I know I go on about the number of vehicles on the road, but this morning was the busiest so far this year. On the way to Leven, not only were there cars on the road, cyclists were out in various sized groups; including a mini peloton, a group of four cycling two abreast with 15 cars bumbling along behind them, and some singleton cyclists. There's no doubt about it this country needs to invest in proper, safe, cycle tracks such as you get in Holland. We waste money on a 'high speed' rail link that isn't going to be long enough save that much journey time. The slower train leaving 20 minutes earlier would have had the same result; i.e. got them to Birmingham 20 minutes earlier. The journey home was slow, due to the number of vehicles travelling East: from the Scoonie roundabout to Lundin Links was one long line of slow moving traffic. Beyond Upper Largo it was almost the normal amount of traffic for this time of year. I was glad to get back to Ivy.
At Alice's we had an early cuppa before going to Sainsbury's to do our shopping. We met Shona(Kinneuchar girl) in the shop: In actually didn't see her at first, but realised that Alice was chatting to someone.... suddenly I realised it was Shona. We had a short blether then continued with our shopping.... after I'd arranged to visit Shona sometime next week.
Back at 'HQ', Alice produced a healthy salad roll, which was followed by an even healthier 'Eton Mess', with loads of strawberries, which meant it was one of our 'five a day'.... and the cream a boost for our energy levels. Alice's Eton Mess is up there with a "Bill's of Lewes" (Sussex) Eton Mess.
