Cloudy ....
11th June 2026 (Thursday) 08.00 ..... It's a quiet kind of morning; even the Blackie is
quiet! Light rain is forecast but at the moment it's not raining, though it looks like it has been because the patio slabs are wet. I'm going to Leven (and Methil) to do a shopping: Michael and Janice re coming up from Sunny Sussex tomorrow. I'm going to have another cuppa before setting off for my first post of call .... Methil, and Alice HQ.16.45 This has been an eventful day for me: an alarm and a warning light came 'on' in the car as I was passing Mercury Motors, telling me that my brake fluid was low. I could hardly believe my luck; this happening as I was passing the garage. Anyway I went to the next junction (100 metres), turned and went back to the garage. Ryan had to order a bit for it (it was more than fluid) so I'll get the car back later this afternoon, or tomorrow morning. I'll have it back in plenty time to pick Janice and Michael from Leven Station tomorrow evening. However this meant I couldn't do the shopping planned for this morning.
Luckily, Iain (Mercury Motors) was going along the coast to pick up a car with the rescue wagon, so he gave me a lift back to Ivy.
Back at Ivy I phoned Alice to let her know that the 'plan' had been changed: in fact I didn't even have a plan. Abut half an hour later Alice phoned to say that she'd come along on the bus, with scones for morning coffee.
I never noticed anything untoward with the brakes; probably I hardly drive fast enough to need them! At least that was the case this morning. The driver in front of me was doing a steady 30 mph on the open road, slowing down to 25 mph when a vehicle was coming the other way (which was often), and doing nearly 20 mph going through Upper Largo. Ir was a nice relaxing morning; until the alarm went off! All this has upset my 'work' plan.
Alice arrived with the aforementioned scones so we had morning coffee, and discussed a new 'work' plan. We'd put up the new shower curtain!..... Alice went up the step ladders, while I held them steady! After Alice went off to get the 13.30 bus home, I fell sound asleep for nearly an hour. The gardening I'd done yesterday had caught up with me. When I woke up, I had another coffee; and did some work in the bedroom. 'The Troops' will have a bed to sleep in tomorrow night!
22.30 I've had a busy day in spite of my 'plan (s)' being all over the place. Tomorrow is going to bea brighter day as far as the weather goes; and it's supposed to start to get warmer. I'll have to stay in Ivy until the garage phones to let me know when the car is ready. This is when I miss the '95' bus that came round 'The Ferry'; I only had a short walk to the Bus Stop. Anyway I'll worry about tat tomorrow.
Today's photies were taken on the way home from the garage.
