Nice morning ......
2nd March 2026 (Monday) 09.30 .... After a damp start to the morning we have a sky showing

promise of brighter weather to come. "Light rain with a moderate breeze" is forecast for KY9, with sunny spells later in the afternoon. When I was out an hour ago we had heavy drizzle; but it's fair just now.
I see on the News that RAF Akrotiri has been hit with a suspected drone strike. This has brought back memories of a walk a few of us did from GHQ MELF (where we were stationed) to RAF Akrotiri. We then walked round the perimeter of the RAF Base, across the salt lake, and through the Elephant Grass (walking backwards) at the edge of the lake, to the Western edge of Limassol; where we found a Turkish Cafe, had a coffee, and phoned a taxi to take us 'home'. It was a long walk!
20.00 I went out on 'The Buggy after lunch; it was sunny, but there was a cool breeze. I only went up Ferry High Street, with a trip down to the beach at Cross Wynd. The light was wrong for me to get any photographs of the sea wall at Chapel Green House. However I plan on charging 'The Buggy' battery tomorrow morning and going out again tomorrow afternoon. The weather forecast for KY9 tomorrow is, "sunny with a gentle breeze".
When going along Links Road I fancied going up Ferry Road so that is what I did; only as far as the entrance road to the Golf Club work shed. The wind had freshened by this time, so I about turned and went back down Ferry Road, along to the Library then home by way of Rotten Row. I won't be doing Rotten Row again; it is not suitable for mobility scooters.
I've done more thinking about RAF Akrotiri. Once or twice a year English Electric Canberra bombers would be deployed to Akrotiri, for an exercise and change of weather. Anyway they set up a target about a of mild off our beach to practice bombing. This was old fashioned bombs and it was amazing how accurate they appeared to be. They were only dummy bombs but raised good old splash when they hit the water. The best viewing point for us was the top of the cliff overlooking the beach and the golf course that was being created on the scrub land between the cliff and the beach. It will be a proper golf course now I imagine. I'll Google it after this update.
I think it's time that proper politicians get together to create a peaceful Middle East. I can't see this
war settling much, because it's making enemies. The root cause of the Middle East problem has to be sorted out, whatever that may be. I'm sure that some clever politicians will know what the problems are; but solving them will be the hard job!. But solve them they must to bring Peace to the Middle East. The United Nations is a great idea, and where 'Peace in the Middle East ' should happen; but the 'veto', that the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council have (America, Russia, China France and the UK) simply means, sadly, that the United Nations is toothless.
