Nice morning ....

Image
21st February 2026 (Saturday)    10.00 .... We have a lightly clouded sky, with blue patched, so there's chance of 'sunny spells' (and light showers) now and again;  and it's warmer than it has been lately.   This could be a good 'play day'.   Iain is off with his camera to see if he can get a few photographs of insects on the dunes and beach.    I'm going to make a mug o' early 'morning coffee'. 14.30    Iain   ... oops ... Boris had a walk along the beach and got a few photographs to 'play' with, including a few of the damaged sea wall at Chapel green House.   While he was doing that I spent most of the morning sleeping in front of the TV:  I have been feeling lethargic, but don't think I'm coming down with 'a bug';  however, I do have a cough. The Rugby is on later in the afternoon;  England and Ireland are playing Ireland at Twickenham;  with Wales v Scotland later in Cardiff.   We a...

Overcast and damp ....

20th February 2026 (Friday)      09.45 .... It's a grey and damp morning, but in should be brighter in the afternoon.   The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky with a bright Southwest, so that should come our way eventually.    I'm trying to get myself into some kind of 'work' mood, but     I can't even get into 'Flap On' mode!   I'll have an early coffee, and a goodie, after this update. 13.45    The sky brightened up, to give us a few sunny spells;  so I had a run round the villages in the car, stopping at The Toft and harbour to get a few 'today' photies.    The villages are busy with holiday makers, but they are mostly heavily wrapped up holiday makers.... because it isn't as warm yet,  as it is forecast to be this weekend. I'd say that progress with Iain's bed, is slow and steady;  when I'm actually doing it.   That hasn't been very often so far today.   ...

Nice morning ....

19th February 2026 (Thursday)    11.00 .... There's a feel of Spring in the air this morning;  there;'s a light Se breeze and it's considerably warmer than it has been.    Not only is there a feel of Spring in the air;  I feel almost as frolicsome as a Spring lamb.   Feeling positive, I've hung out a washing;  there could be light showers in the afternoon, but as I said, I'm feeling positive so the showers will miss us!   Iain is coming down tomorrow so I'd better sort out his bed;  at the moment it looks like a shelf!.... could be some interesting stuff there!   Slight 'Flap On' ..... but not until I've had my morning coffee. 19.00 .... I've had a busy day, and enjoyable day.  We never had any rain so the washing the washing was near enough dry when J brought it in.    It is now ironed and airing in front of a radiator.   Iain' bed isn't made up yet, but he's happy to do that when he arrives:...

1 8th February 2026 (Wednesday)      10.15 ....  We have a mix of light cloud and sunny spells, with a chilly SE wind this morning:  but, it's actually a nice morning considering the time of year.   I'll go up to Elie later and pick up my prescription, but it's not a good 'play day';  so too cauld for me to go down to the harbour.   I'll stay in and warm.    It's the Colinsburgh 'Friendship Lunch' today, but I'll miss that because of the cold weather.  Must remember to phone Myra to let her know I won't be going. 20.00    The weather has been reasonable today;  chilly right enough but not bad for this time of year:  and it didn't rain.   If it did I didn't notice it.   I went to Elie (to pick up my prescription) in the afternoon.  Elie appeared to be quiet;  there wasn't a lot of folk wandering around.... but  it wasn't the best kind of day for families being out....

Nice morning ....

17th February 2026 (Tuesday)     09.00 .... It's a lovely, sunny, morrrrrrrrrning, but there's a chilly breeze from the Northerly direction.    There's a Yellow Warning for ice, especially  in places sheltered from the sun.   However it should be be warm sheltered from that breeze.    I'll have another cuppa then head off to Leven and Methil. 17.15   We've had a lovely sunny day at Elie and Earlsferry;  but it has been cold.    There are places, that don't get the early sun on the Leven Road, so there was was ice on the puddles and wet bits of the road. Most people were driving carefully, so it was an enjoyable drive this morning.    After a cuppa at the 'Alice HQ' we went to Sainsbury's to get the bit's and pieces we wanted, then across to B & M's to get candle bulbs for the light I bought last week.   My breathing has been uncomfortable today, due to the drop in temperature.  ...

16th February 2026 (Monday)     09.00 .... After light  rain during the night, we have a clearing sky with sunny spells now.   There's a moderate breeze from the NW so it is chilly.   However, 'light rain' is forecast;  but that could miss us and give us a nice, warm  Spring afternoon!    I'm haven't made a 'plan' for today;  it depends on how frisky I feel after another cuppa. 11.00    I've been down to the harbour to get a few photographs to 'play' with in the evening;  and I got a few photos of the storm damaged sea wall at Chapel Green House.   The house is far enough back to be safe.    Storms off the Southeast are always the most damaging;  as can be seen by all remains of the 'Pilgrim's Pier'... a "rickle o' stanes". 15.00    It's a bonnie Spring day now;   and warm in the sun.    Ferry Road has been busy with holiday makers:  some of them fa...

Quiet morning ....

15th February 2026 (Sunday)     10.30 .... Getting out of bed this morning didn't seem to be a good idea at 07.15, so I eventually got 'up' at 07.55!    Having showered and had breakfast I feel 'playful' now!    Although chilly, it's a nice enough morning, with a mostly cloudy sky, with blue patches and the chance of sunny spells now and again.   Unfortunately there's a good chance of light rain in the afternoon.   I might venture out in the car.   It's time for coffee (and 'cake' ) now! 15.30    Iv'e had a lazy day;  not that I wanted a 'lazy day'.... it just happened.   It was a nice enough morning, but any time I went out, which wasn't often) the cauld air hit, and that was that.   Stayed in and warm from then on.   Well nor quite;  I went round 'The Ferry in the car, just after the rain came on at 14.00.   Funnily enough that was the only time I went out, and...

Lovely morning ....

14th February 2026 (Saturday)  .... This is "St Valentine's Day".... the day of love and red roses.     9.45 .... We have a lovely, bright, sunny and chilly morning.   I see that the sun has cleared the car windscreen,so I might go to the harbour after morning coffee.   There's a washing going through the machine just now, which I'll hang out though I doubt if it will dry because there's only a light breeze. 17.00    It has been a lovely, sunny day;  but it was cold.    I went to Elie to hand in my prescription, and to the 'paper Shop' .    I had intended going to the harbour but, for some reason, the roads were busy and there was loads of people wandering around.    In fact when I reversed out to come home a stream of traffic came the other way and I had to wait until they passed before I got going.   I went up the Elie road, then down Ferry road for a wee run.   Not much happen there;...

Lovely day ....

13th February 2026 (Friday)     18.45    Apologies for being late with 'The Hutte' this mor ... er .... evening.   I have had a busy day.     Alice was coming so I thought I'd better go round wi' the 'Hoover'.   The I spotted some dust on the TV cabinet;  but being a clever boy I thought I'd close the thermal curtains, to keep the heat 'in'.... and forget about the dusting.   We were going to have a 'picnic';  an indoor picnic, that Alice was bringing with her. Oh .... we woke up to a wintry looking morning;  and a cold one because the snow/sleet had frozen on the car windscreen.   I fed the two 'Blobs' (they are both boys so start fechtin' as doon as they see each other) so I feed one at the back door and the other at the front door. Alice arrived about 11. 20, by which time I was organised and had the kettle 'on'.   By this time the sun was up and we had a lovely morning, albeit ...

Cold ENE wind .....

12th February 2026 (Thursday)      10.00 .... We have a cold and damp start to the morning, but there are blue patches in the sky so we should have sunny spells..... but it's much colder than it has been of late.   In fact a cold spell is forecast with the chance of snow and ice tomorrow morning.  I haven't been further than the front gate, and there's not much to see there ... looking North.   I might go out in the car later, but I'm going to wash the bath room, kitchen and  lobby floors before having morning coffee.   That will be my 'work' for today.  That job is 'hard work' now. 20.30    It has been a nice day, albeit cold with the occasional shower, but brighter than recent days.   I eventually got the floors washed;  and that was me finished with work for the day.   Oh... I was watching the modern skiing' race, the Moguls' at the Winter Olympics for a while this after noon.   I...

Wet and windy ....

Image
11th February 2026 (Wednesday)     09.30 ....I don't think I could ever get to like this kind of weather!    I might like a couple of days of it in August, after two months o' sunshine in June and July!    Anyway, we have a 'wet and windy' day here, with no mention of 'sunny spells'!   But I could be wrong.   I'll have a run up to the 'paper shop' sometime this morning.  I used to think all the traffic on Ferry Road was running on battery power;  I now know that they aren't!    12.00    I went to the 'Paper Shop' and could hear everybody talking, which was a bit of a problem, but my brain will get used to that.  This is the first time I have been in in a shop with number of people.   It is a wet and miserable day... and, I  think it is turning colder.   That's all we need windy, wet and cold! That's my trip out for today .... and I remembered to buy the papers!   ...

Light rain ....

Image
10th February 2026 (Tuesday)      09.45 ..... We have a grey, breezy and damp;  with light rain now and again.   Much of the UK has this weather;  some parts with Weather Warnings for heavy rain.   A couple of things I've noticed this morning;  Ferry Road isn't as quiet as I thought it was, and the clock in the kitchen actually ticks.   I wonder what the 'Hoover' sounds like?    This is going to be a tidy up day!  16.00    I have has a good day in spite of it being dull and sometimes wet.   I've done some tidying up, sorting out the settings on the hearing aids, and watching the Olympics now and again.   That included  trying out the Hoover for noise!   It was noisy! .... so I decided to set the hearing aids to the volume that suited me best.   That involved reading the 'rools' to find out how to to the adjusting the volume  .... and other things with th...

Broken cloud and damp ....

Image
9th February 2026 (Monday)     07.45 .... It's damp after overnight rain, but the sky, though mostly cloudy is showing the promise of 'sunny spells' with light rain /showers.     I'll have another cuppa then get of to Methil.    Looking forward to getting my hearing aids. 20.00    My hearing aids are amazing;   I can hear with both ears;  for the first time  in many years.   I can't believe the difference;  I didn't think my hearing really bad.... but it is ... oops ... was!   The technician said that they weren't fully charged, and that I'd have to charge them sometime this afternoon.    I managed to get the charger set up and plug the hearing aids into the charger.   Getting the aids  back in the lugs is a bit tricky but I'll get the hang o' that.   It takes a week or two for the brain to accept the new hearing;  but it does.     Oh .......

Bright er morning.....

Image
8th February 2026 (Sunday)   11.45 .... We have a 'lovely morning:  it's not windy and wet!    Mind you; when I see how much rain there has been other places, what we've had has been a bit of 'dampness'.   That said it's good to see the sun, even if it is only in short spells;  and there' only a light breeze (E) so this is a 'play day'. I started my morning with a good sleep in and didn't extricate myself from bed until 08.45.   By the time I'd showered, had breakfast, and checked the News, it was nearly 10.00.    It's great to get out with the camera again;  I've been down to the harbour (in the car) and have a batch of local photies to 'play' with this evening.   I am a 'happy boy'.   The villages are busy!  Down at the harbour holidaymakers were wandering around like it was summer.    Compared to the weather we've had this is 'like summer';  or would be if it was warmer.  ...

Overcast with light rain .....

Image
7th February 2026 (Saturday)    10.15 .... The weather is the same as it has been for the past week so that takes care of the weather report.   What will I be doing?..... we have the Winter Olympics on BBC 2, so I'll be watching that on and off most of the day.    I might have a run round 'The Ferry' in the car later to see what happening, but it's not a day for being out.    This could be a good 'rest day'.   Oh... nearly forgot;  all the Fife Weather cams are showing 'overcast with rain'. 16.00   The rain stopped in the early afternoon, and we had a brighter spell of weather;  if fact we almost had a proper 'sunny spell'.    Hopefully this means a better spell of weather on the way.   I went up to the golf course, for a bit of exercise, and could see some blue(ish) sky towards the North.    I've had a relaxing kind of day, watching the Olympics Curling on (BBC2).   Team GB wo...

Windy and wet ....

Image
6th February 2026 (Friday)     10.00 .... We have another windy and wet morning;  Photographs courtesy BBC 2 and is  forecast to be thus all day.    Not a nice morrrrrrning to walk the dog.   In fact it's not a nice morning to go out;  with or without a dog.without a dog.    I am am watching the curling from Italy (Great Britain v Sweden,    Actually the weather is unlikely to bother me much at all today, as I have  the Winter Olympics from Italy, and work to do on the computer.  I switched the kettle 'on' before I did this update so you cab guess what I am going to do next.   Wash the breakfast dishes?    No;  t hey are already in the dish washer.    It's morning coffee time.  13.45    Bob came round in the morning and we had a long chat about the problems of today's World.  I think the main conclusion we reached was that our generation  enjoyed a...

Windy and wet ....

Image
5th February 2026 (Thursday)     09.45 .... It's overcast, with a fresh wind (E) and light rain at the moment.  "Strong winds with heavy rain is the forecast" for KY9, .....with a chance of sunny spells.   Even one short sunny spell would be a boost.   I'm hoping to go to Leven and Methil, but that depends on how the weather develops in the next half hour or so. 18.05   Morning time was the best of today's weather;  the roads were almost dry driving to Leven and Methil ....  in fact I enjoyed driving for a change.   At times the sky looked like breaking up but that never actually happened.   Alice and I had a cuppa, and a quick catch up wi' the Methil news, before going to Sainsbury's to do some shopping.    There's been  a few changes in Sainsbury's;  they've 'squashed' the newspaper bit  to make room for a big coffee machine and a Vape counter.   Vaping must be as addict...

Wet and windy ....

Image
4th February 2026 (Wednesday)     10.00 .... we have yet another day of 'wet and windy' weather;  I probably won't go out today.   It's not just Fife, the whole of the UK has had rain, at dome point, in the first few weeks of 2026.   On a positive note;  there isn't any dust to get in our eyes.   Not outside anyway.   'Plan' for today?... probably computer stuff, numerous cuppas (got to keep up the liquid intake), some 'ooverin' and dustin', and  a few cat-naps.  Need to put the kettle 'on'.... it's morning coffee time.   And, I must give 'Blob' his morning snack.   Busy day ahead;  I feel tired already.   Oh... the weather forecast?.... "light rain and a fresh Easterly breeze". 16.30     It had been windy, wet and gloomy, nearly all day:  there was a short period around midday when the greyness was paler, and the light rain, not quite stopped;  I began ...
