Overcast and damp ....
15th March 2026 (Sunday) 10.15 .... It's overcast with drizzle, a brisk Southwesterly wind; not
a pleasant morning, but it is slightly warmer it has been even, in the brisk wind. It's 8.5C on the patio thermometer. Actually, I don't think I'll be going much further that the patio thermometer today. Unless 'sunny spells' come our way in the afternoon; which might happen, as I'm feeling positive!I watched Ed Milliband being interviewed by 'Laura' this morning. He (Ed Milliband) is one of those politicians that believe is putting all your eggs in one basket when it comes to 'green' options: Renewable energy or else; which is in theory ideal. However if the basket drops off the handle, you end up with a lot of broken eggs... and a useless basket. Green and renewable energy is the right idea! ... but it has to be brought in sensibly.
The other week I found out about something called 'soft plastics'; which we are suppose to separate from presumably 'hard plastics' .... and take the soft plastics to a supermarket for recycling. Would it not be better if manufacturers stopped using 'soft plastics' and used paper wrapping instead? In fact (tongue in cheek bit), why not go all the way and get everyone back on on bikes, bring back brown paper bags; and stop advertising. That way we could really save Mother Earth! Hey ... I'm a 'happy boy' this morning.
20.00 The afternoon turned out sunny, albeit breezy with a couple of short squally showers. I went up to Kinneuchar to get 'Today's' photographs; form my usual parking place. So you will have seen photographs from the same spot a few times now. The subjects might be the same but the light is always different; to me that means it's a different photograph, from of my favourite places. Balcarres Crag was my 'playground' when we lived in East Lodge.
I did some research, and browsing, on the computer; and even thought about getting The Buggy out,but the threat of showers changed my mind on that idea. Which is why I went up to Kinneuchar in the car.
Tomorrow morning should start with sunny spells, but they will disappear when light rain moves in from the West. I might so some typing tomorrow.
Today's photographs: Middle - Balcarres Crag, and Bottom - Rires Farm cottages. The gable end is of the original 3 Victorian cottar houses, now converted to a single dwelling. The two modern farm cottages were built after the war (WWII). The used to be a modern bungalow (built on the site of another two Victorian cottar houses) to the left of the Victorian cottar house gable,, but it must have been demolished. If you look closely where the trees are, you will see a 'double dyked roadway that goes up to the farm cottages. That was part of the original right of way from Earlsferry up past Rires Castle (it was in front of and slightly to the right of the modern farm cottages) then over the hill to Lathallan and onwards to St Andrews Cathedral.... and St Andrew's Shrine.
