Sunny spells ....

16th March 2026 (Monday)     10.00 .... It's a nice morning, but there's ac .hilly wind.   The sky

was mostly blue when I got up (07.00)  but is cloudier now with cloud, and rain, moving in from the Southwest.  Rain is forecast to arrive in the afternoon.    I'm going to have a quiet day working between the computer and doing 'ousework.   Jackie and Iain are coming down next weekend so I'd best run round wi' the 'oover!

I see on the News that President Trump is becoming more agitated;  tariffs could be back on the menu for those countries that don't join him (the USA), in getting getting the the Strait of Hormuz open to shipping again.   The war to bring 'Peace to the Middle East' is proving to be trickier than when it began 17 days ago.    You'd think that, after Vietnam, the USA would know that 'Might is not Right'.

14.30    We've been lucky with the weather so far today;  after a few spits and spot o' rain at midday, it has been fair bur cold in the breeze.    In fact the sky is reasonably bright just now,  we've even had a few short sunny spells.

I was glad to hear the Prime Minister telling us that he isn't going to drag the UK into a wider war.   The best way to sort out the Strait of Hormuz is, as the PM also said, is for the war to end and the talking begin.

With the arrival of a few sunny spells I thought about going for a run in the car, but the sunny spells have gone, and the sky has clouded over again.    It's afternoon coffee time;  then I'll start to write up my page about the conclusions I reached about the old pier..... with much help from  Maggie's Uncle Jimmy.

19.00    The rain eventually arrived and we now have a rather 'damp' evening.    However it's going to clear away and we should have a dry but cloudy day tomorrow.     That suits me fine because I'm going to visit Alice;  and probably go to the shops for retail  therapy..

I've had a productive day on the computer, sorting out stuff for the Old Pier page that I am doing for the blog.

We really need to know the results of any work that the Historic Environment Scotland  (formerly Historic Scotland) and St Andrews University Archaeologists did, at the time I was communicating with our local (Fife) Archaeologists.   If they didn't do anything then, they certainly won't be doing anything now.

Today's photographs:  Top and Middle - Crathes Castle, and Bottom - the trees in front of the cottage were planted by my 'Dad' in 1945 to celebrate the end of the war.   Sadly the cottage is now used as a shelter by sheep and cattle.
