Overcast and wet .....

9th Match 2026 (Monday)     10.00 .... The sky is heavily overcast, with occasional  with spells of

rain this morning.    We had a glimpse of the sun a few minutes ago, and the murkiness is forecast to break up and give us a brighter afternoon.... in fact the sky is brightening already.    I'm feeling 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' this morning, but haven't a 'plan for today'.    In the meantime I'll do some 'ousework before morrrrrrrning coffee.

13.15   We have a lovely day now;  dry with sunny spells!... and there's hardly any wind, so it's warm.   I  took the car up to Chapel Green and had a pleasant walk round the Green, after morning coffee.

I'm always surprised at the number of people, presumably on holiday, that come to Elie and Earlsferry at this time of year.    This used to be the 'quiet time' before the Easter Holidays.   Easter Weekend, this year, begins with Good Friday  on 3rd April.    Perhaps it's juts Easter holidays starting early.

19.00     I've had an enjoyable day;  did a few wee jobs around Ivy, and did some successful browsing on the computer.   I was going to go up to the seat at the 17th green later in the afternoon, but the temperature had dropped, and the wind freshened, so it was much colder.   I caught up with the 'News'.

I can't see this war bringing  bringing Peace to the Middle East;  there's an awful lot on enemies being made at the moment.

President Macron landed at Paphos this morning;  this brought another memory out of a corner of the brain.    Myself and mates were having lunch in the Dining Hall when three Black watch soldiers came in for their lunch.   (The Black watch was stationed at Paphos at the time).    I looked at them;   then looked again!   One of the soldiers was Martin Sutherland from Cellardyke: we were in the same class at Waid Academy!    They were making for Larnaca, and had dropped in for lunch on the way past.   We had a short chat before I (and my mates) had to go back to the office.

Martin emigrated to New Zealand after his National service, and was Harbour Master at Bluff, on the

south coast of South Island.    I think this cooler spell is to be with us tomorrow again;  that means I'll have to stay inside.   However I can wrap up well and go out in the car, so I might go to Leven and Methil;  it depends on what the weather is actually like in the morning.
