Bright and breezy ....

24th March 2026 (Tuesday)     11.45    We have nice day here in Elie and Earlsferry;  it's breezy

so a wrap up day if out in the open.    I feel much better now that I've had my haircut;  and had a wee run up to Kinneuchar to get a few photographs.  The 'plan' is to tidy the kitchen, now that I'm feeling better;  but I don't intend  overdoing the 'work' thing.   Anyway, there's not that much needing to be done. 

17.30    We've had a nice afternoon;  the wind moderated, and the squally showers missed us.... and I had a long siesta in the afternoon.  I feel much better now.  
I did some 'work' in the kitchen; but not much!   I think I'll be a bundle of action tomorrow.

It's strange how a simple thing like a haircut can make me feel better;   it reaches a stage where it is uncomfortably long;  especially the eyebrows!   Anyway Lorraine sorts it all out;  'short back and sides' and I'm ready to go.    And I remembered to take out my hearing aids before I went in.

The haircut was followed by a visit to the 'paper shop', then home by way of Kinneuchar, stopping at the East end of the Kinneuchar Station road, to get the photo of the Kinneuchar sign, the kirk and daffodils.

22.30    What's my 'plan' for tomorrow?.....  well... I'm feeling better so should be more  active.  Unfortunately it's going to turn colder tomorrow so I won't get 'The Buggy' out.   Actually I might go to 'The Store' and so a wee shopping before the weekend.  
 I saw on the News that there has been a massive increase in Air B n B bookings, all over the UK, because of the cost of flying.   That means Elie and Earlsferry will be busy.  I have already noticed that Earlsferry is busier now than it has ever been, at what were usually quiet times of the year.  'The Ferry' is changing right enough.    That reminds me;   I must make a neater drawing of the pier 'plan' I drew, from the measurements I took 11 years ago.   That will be an interesting job;  I like drawing.    One thing I can't understand: it, the pier, wasn't straight!

Quiet morning ....

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
