Nice morning ....
22nd March 2026 (Sunday) 09.15 .... It's a nice morning; slightly mistier than it has been,
but'sunny spells' will come once the sun gets going.I've had o phone Iain and Jackie, and put them off until later in the week; I'm choked up with a cold. I was sneezing a couple of days ago, so should have guessed it was the start of a cold. I'll spend the next couple of days pottering around Ivy; and, I've got a book to read! Luckily I managed to get most of the 'work' stuff done; only got to run round wi' the 'oover and flick things wi' the feather duster. I'll do that on Tuesday. In the meantime I'm going to feed the 'Blob' and 'Blobette' team.
20.00 It has been a nice, sunny day, but the cooler air that is forecast had arrived at KY9. As planned I stayed in. I did some research on the computer; and watched 'Bridge on the River Kwai'. Jock, a workmate on the building sites, told us that the film was nothing like the reality; and Jock was there.
I've since seen a more modern film about 'The 'Railway', where, at the end of the film, and after the Japs had capitulated, Jock and the other POW's were in a camp, when an American plane went over and dropped two parachutists. They landed near the camp gate; ready for action .... with a Sten gun (or similar) and grenades dangling from their webbing. One of of them said, "where are the Japs": a lone, anonymous, voice replied , "they ran away into the jungle (?) a couple of days ago". And that was exactly how Jock said it was (apart from the words 'taken etc'); which makes me think that part of the film (including ****** off) was based on what happened at the camp that Jock was in, at the end of the war. Jock died before that film came out, but he had seen the 'Bridge on River Kwai'. (Apologies for the ****** naughty word).
I've had a quiet day nursing the cauld. I'll read a bit more of my book after this update; and probably
have another rest day tomorrow. I should be clear of the cold by Wednesday so Iain and Jackie can come down on Thursday. I'm going to make a cuppa now. oops ... I sneezed; I think that's that's a good sign!Today's photographs: Top - tonight's moon. Middle - Maggie's Great Granddad's boat at West Bay., and Bottom - Leven beach (and Lum)... taken in 2015.
