Nice morning ....
4th March 2026 (Wednesday) 10.00 .... I just saw another sign of Spring; a family of Whooper
swans migrating North, to their breeding grounds in Iceland. The weather? .... we have a mostly cloudy sky just now, but that is forecast to break up to give us a sunny afternoon. I had a quiet day planned, but I've just had a phone call from the Skeith Health Centre and I've to go there in the afternoon; so that's my 'action plan' for today. At this moment we have a very long low loader trying to manoeuvre at Ferry Corner.... it belongs to the demolition company working at Chapel Green House. Busy place is Ferry Corner just now.
I decided to Google GHQ MELF last night, to see what changes have taken place since I last looked at it six months or so ago. Well they must have been using an old photograph six months ago, because I hardly recognised GHQ MELF last night. I know that they were going to spend a lot of money improving the base but my word, I'll have to study it well tonight to get my bearings. The block that we lived in is still there, but looks different, and some of the street names have changed. 'Slight Flap On' now, got to have morning coffee.
19.00 It has been a beautiful Spring day; I'd have gone out on 'The Buggy' in the afternoon, if I didn't have to go to Anstruther. Not only was it sunny, it was also warm. Anyway I went to the Skeith Centre and have been 'done and dusted' so that's me for another 12 weeks. By the time O got back to Ivy I was well ready for a cuppa.... and my siesta!
I'll never get used to how busy the East Neuk is now; it's a holiday destination all year round. Next year we have the 155th 'Open' at St Andrews; I imagine that the East Neuk will be 'choc a bloc' with car drivers looking for somewhere to park!
22.15 Today's photographs : Top - The long low loader at Ferry Corner. I should point out that the tractor had a low loader attached to it, then there was another low loader attached to the first one. Bit like an Australian Road train! If you look closely at the top photo you can see a man wearing a hi-vis jacket; he was at the end of the second low loader. It had three set wheels that could be steered. I didn't go down to take any photographs because I didn't want to distract them. Bottom photie - another sunny afternoon!
