Bright and sunny (so is the weather) .....
7th March 2026 (Saturday) 10.30 .... There was a good coating of rime on the car windscreen
this morning, but that soon shifted once the sun got going; and we now have beautiful sunny morning. There is a cool breeze, but sheltered from said breeze it's warm. I might have my 'morning coffee' on the patio,I've had a run to Chapel Green in the car to take a few 'today' photographs; including some of the old pier site. I then had a wander round 'The Green' to Maggie's Seat, where 'We' (Maggie and me) contemplated the pier situation. Though 'both' shocked, and upset, by this, "We" came to the conclusion that there's no point in 'humming and hawing' about what has happened; that won't bring the 'rickle o' stanes' back. "We've" decided to think of it as a beach tidying operation! Must 'go'.... slight 'Flap On', I'm ready for morning coffee.
16.30 My word; it has been a beautiful, sunny day: and Scotland beat France (50 - 40) at Murrayfield. Yes this has been a good 'rest day'. Rest day?.... I was a 'bag o' nerves for the last 10 minutes of the game!
I thought about taking 'The Buggy' out before sunset, but it' is too chilly: and Ferry Road is busy with people and cars. I might begin to write up about the 'rickle o' stanes' later, but right now I'm thinking 'food' thoughts. I had Shepherd's Pie for lunch, so I only need a snack for dinner.
19.15 Tomorrow is going to be another sunny but cold day, with a light breeze. I might do a washing.
I don't have a'plan' for tomorrow; though I'll probably do some work on the computer. This cold snap doesn't agree with me, so I won't be going out on 'The Buggy'.
The daffodils are out at Chapel green; a sure sign that it is Spring. It was warm sitting on Maggie's Seat; I wished I'd a flask of coffee with me. I might do that tomorrow morning if it isn't too cold and breezy. It was too cold to have coffee on the patio this morning.
I can't get over how quickly The old pier' was scooped up and repurposed. That's what you call
progress! The problem with old piers you don't really know when a pier first appeared on the site. I imagine it would have been organised by the Nuns of North Berwick (they ran the Chapel Hospital's at both ends of the Ferry route. And they had the money to finance such a project. That is why I call it 'The Pilgrim's Pier; because I imagine there was a pier built for that purpose, in the heyday of pilgrimage, with pilgrims travelling all over Europe to different Shrines, especially in the 13th and 14th centuries.
