Nice morning ....

25th October 2025 (Saturday)     12.45 ....  Iain and I have been to Sainsbury's to do a shopping,

so the food cupboard  has been topped up, and I'm making Cottage Pies for the freezer in the afternoon.   That was our mission for today.   It is a bonnie day albeit a cold one;  there's a definite wintry feel to it.  ;  Sainsbury's was quiet at that time of morning;  but the roads were busy.   Iain was driving, while I got a few photographs.

20.30   It has been a bonnie, sunny day here at Elie and Earlsferry.... but it has also been a cold one.   Some places could have frost tonight; especially in remote highland glens.

Iain did some work outside while I stayed in and organised food etc.   Iain saved the apples that could be used for Apple Crumbles etc.  When shopping this morning,  I bought mince to make Cottage Pies;  I might do that tomorrow because it's forecast to be wet in the afternoon.   Iain is going  to Backhill of Inkhorn (home) after lunch;  making the Cottage pies will be a sort of occupational therapy.  I'm always 'lonely' after any of the troops o off home. 

Earlsferry seems busy;  but it should calm down after the mid-term breaks are finished.    We never went up to Elie at all today.   And I won't be going anywhere tomorrow if it's raining.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.
