Nice morning ....

21st October 2025 (Tuesday)     11.15 .... It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning even though we

have had light rain most of the time .... so far.    The sky is brightening as I type so I am looking for 'sunny spells in the afternoon.    Iain is coming down on Friday so I'll get the single bed made up;  that will be my exercise for the day.   That and the 'exercise pedals'.  they are bike pedals without the bike.   If sunny spells do come our way in the afternoon I might have a short walk to Nana's Seat.   

16.00    The single bed downie, sheets etc. are now in the washing machine, ready to be washed early tomorrow morning (maybe even tonight) and out on the line.    That was the 'work' plan for today.   The weather forecast for tomorrow is good up until mid afternoon when showers could come over.

The sunny spells I was looking for never came to much.   The sky brightened up, and the sun broke through, in the middle of the day; but it didn't last long.    I never went down to Nana's Seat, because it was warmer staying 'in',and using the 'pedals'.

When I'm using the 'pedals' I get round to thinking!   Today it was about saving the Planet!   If we're really serious about saving Mother Earth, we should be building a network of proper cycle ways, all over the UK so that people could safely bike around the country.    The cycle ways could have Hostels and small camp sites attached, so that folk could plan long trips:  like we did in the 'good old days';  before cars reached  the 'plague' numbers, we have now.   (I do have a car that's contributing to the 'plague', but only because we have no shops in Earlsferry, or a regular bus service, so a car is necessary to go to Elie etc).  Earlsferry did have, both shops and  regular bus service;  in the 'good old days'.   It just shows how progress has changed Elie and Earlsferry, and indeed the whole of the East Neuk.   Maybe I should stop using the 'pedals'.

22.30    I've been using the 'pedals' again ..... and I'm still saving the planet;  but I won't bother you with that.   For some strange reason I have enjoyed myself today ... and I haven't done very much.   I did some browsing through the Alberto Archive because the breathing tubes didn't agree with the air outside and I always enjoy doing that.   Today's photos were taken on 21st October 2013.   On a day when the weather was much the same as it has been today.

I miss going to Methil to annoy Alice, but won't be doing that until I'm completely clear of this bug.

Iain's coming down on Friday so we'll go to Leven and do a shopping then.   That will be the first time I'll have been as far as Leven in nearly three weeks.

The washing is 'on' for tomorrow as it's to be a good drying day;  well the morning wwill be 'good'.   There could be showers in the afternoon.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.
