Lovely morning ....
6th October 2025 (Monday) 12.45 .... I've had an eventful morrrrrrning; although I haven't
actually done anything useful, but, because I'm feeling a bit better I decided to have a run 'roond the Ferry' in the car. And that was the start of my eventful morning. I set off from Ivy (without my hearing aids) turned right and went uo the High Street. As I was passing Marci'as she waved me down to tell me there was smoke coming for the back wheel. I went back into the car, pumped the brake made sure the hand brake was off and set off again. I couldn't stay where I was because I was blocking the High Street). I got to the top of the High Street, turned right on to Links Road when workmen in Donaldson's van waved me down, to tell me much the same as Marcia had.... only this time the tyre was flat. There are good people all around us when you need them. The Donaldson bloke changed the wheel for me (there's no way I could change a wheel now); I need a new tyre. Just then Marcia appeared (she guessed that I'd probably be 'stuck' somewhere) to take me back to Ivy. I'd no money on me, so couldn't give the bloke that changed the wheel anything for doing that. By this time I'm beginning to feel 'auld.'
Marcia ran me home and I wandered in to the front door; and remembered that the house key was in the car! I noticed that Christine was at home, so went and asked her if she would run me round to the car to pick up the house key. It was starting to dawn on me that I am 'auld'.... and very reliant on the good neighbours that are all around me.
I got into Ivy, put the kettle 'on' and phoned the garage (they will be picking up the car sometime this afternoon). Thankfully the cold is slightly better this morning,; even so, I would have taken me a long time to walk from where the car is 'parked', back home to Ivy.
So a huge 'Thank You' to the Donaldson's men, and Marcia and Christine who, between them got
an '\auld boy' calmed down .... and back home!22.15 Unfortunately the car isn't being uplifted until tomorrow morning; the garage 'recovery'vehicle widnae start! It's been a good day for breakdowns.
