Bright and breezy ....

17th December 2020 (Thursday)      10.00 .... It’s a lovely morning but there are a few showers around;    they have missed so far, which is good ‘cos I have awe washing on the line!     There was a beautiful “Red sky in the morning .... “ sunrise, so I assume it will be raining tomorrow.    That’s why I did the washing this morning.      I am going to Leven to the hairdressers in the afternoon so I won’t be biking up to Kinneuchar until the weekend now. 21.00    I am now sporting a classic ‘short back and sides’ haircut;  this is in case there’s another wave of COVID-19 in January.    Leven High Street was busy today, with most folks wearing masks and observing the two metres ‘rool’, so I didn’t feel threatened.   Although it was good seeing the High Street looking almost ‘normal’,  I didn’t go and have coffee in any of the Coffee Shops.   The on...

16th December 2020 (Wednesday)      07.00 .... Heavy rain and  a fresh breeze from the southeast is the forecast for KY9 today.   It isn’t raining just now though there is a fresh breeze;  but it isn’t as cold as you’d expect it to be in December.    It looks like being a computer/ ‘ousework/ day for me.  I’ll go for the paper later in the morning. 09.00     The rain started as I was going out of Elie (I’ve been to ‘The Store’) and its heavy now, but should begin to slacken off around lunchtime.    I noticed some lighter patches in the sky so we   just might end up with a reasonable evening.    By that time it will be dark. ‘The Store’ was quiet this morning;   I bought everything on the list plus a few extras.    One of the extras was a packet of six Staedtler pencils.   I have loads of pencils, ordinary ones and artists ones, so didn’t really need to buy penci...

15th December 2020 (Tuesday)       07.30      Hanging out the washing was 08.40 surprisingly enjoyable this morning;   the Eastern sky was just beginning to lighten  therefore most of the sky was dark and sprinkled with stars..... it was beautiful.    It turned into one of my ‘lucky me’ dreaming times.      Living here I have a lot of those but not normally when I’m hanging out a washing.   Anyway the washing is on the line and I am ready to ‘rock ‘n roll. It looks like it’s going to be a lovely day (though there could be the chance of an odd light shower in the morning) so I’ll take the bike out to go for the paper;  it has lights that come on automatically when the light is low.   10.30    Oh my word .... what fantastical start to the day.  We had an absolutely fantastical sunrise sky this morning ... it was red and awfie bonnie....

All is quiet at the Centre of the Universe ...

14th December 2020 (Monday)     10.30 ....I’ve been to the harbour... and  I forgot to stop at the  paper shop ..... but I’ll do that later when I go out on the bike.    The villages are quiet this morning, though I did get lucky and had a conversation with Stewart at the harbour.   He was telling me that he couldn’t hang around ‘cos he had to hurry home to get Lorraine’s breakfast ready  .... he just loves spoiling her.    Must ‘go’ .... slight flap on.... ‘Blob’ (bless his feathery butt) will be looking for his ‘morning snack’. 15.30    The afternoon turned out ‘nae bad’ so I went out on the bike.    The original intention was to do ‘the villages’, but it began to spit rain when I was at Chapel Green so I  never got as far as Elie.  The rain never came to anything (so I could have done Elie), but I had already made my way back to Ivy and the kettle set at ‘on’, so that wa...

Bonnie pre sunrise sky ....

13th December 2020 (Sunday)   11.00 .... there was a, “red sky in the morrrrning, shepherd’s warning” pre- sunrise sky at dawn;   really gorgeous with a hint of ominous about it.    Loved it.    Trigger (Spaniel) was on the beach taking Tom out for his morning exercise (it might have been the other way round);  they go out to the lighthouse and Lady’s Tower.   The Lady’s Tower would have been a good place to catch the sunrise this morning.    I didn’t go out on the bike because I saw that we were going to have an interesting sky and that the tide was out;  a good combination for sunrise time pictures. I’m going to have a coffee then set up the computer to take in the service from Kinneuchar kirk at 11.00.    Enjoy your day:   having said that, by the look of the sky,   rain isn’t far away. 12.00     I enjoyed the ‘live’ service from Kinneuchar;     funnily ...

12th December 2020 (Saturday)       09.30 .... Welllll .... it’s not the bonniest Mid - afternoon. of mornings, with everything being wet after overnight rain, and it’s still raining.      I’ve been to Ainster (‘The Store’)   to top up the ‘emergency rations’ which included two small bags of bread mix to make morrrrrrrning rolls, in case of inclement weather over the next few weeks.     ‘Master Plan’ for today?..... it’s a stay in, stay dry stay safe kind of morning;    and the forecast isn’t ‘iggzactly’ exciting for the afternoon either.      I’ll be ‘lining up’ the cuppas. 16.00      The sky showed signs of braking up in the middle of the afternoon, so, even the rain hadn’t completely stopped, I had a walk to the beach;   and I enjoyed it.     There was a moody looking sky begging to be photographed;     the rain had died down to a light S...

Much wetness ....

11th December 2020 (Friday)     07.30 ....There’s been a lot of rain overnight and it’s raining heavily just now, but the rain should slacken off by mid morning..... and I’m hoping for at least one ‘sunny spell’ after lunch.   Even a short one would do.   The only thing that can really counteract dreichness is .... a ‘line up’ of cuppas. 10.30    The rain has stopped, there are ‘bloo’ bits in the sky, the bin has been emptied and  the ‘girls’ are golfing.   ‘All’ is as it should be at Elie and Earlsferry.   I’ve organised everything in the kitchen for the second batch of Cottage Pies, ... tautties and vegetables peeled etc.   I’m having a cuppa before getting the bike out and going for the paper.  The roads are wet but I can avoid the puddles.   Must ‘go’.... “slight flap on”.   I’ll do the Cottage Pies when I get back. 19.00    We had a lovely day.... and yo...
