Lovely fresh morning ....

18th June 2025 (Wednesday)    08.45 .... It's a bonnie morning but cooler than I expected it to be, because there's a layer of thin cloud just now.   That said we're unlikely to get the extreme heat that 'Sunny Sussex' and the the south is going to have.   I slept in this morning, but I have been working lately:  I had a long hot shower this morning to ease off stiff muscles;  and I'm feeling much better. Myra phoned to remind me that it's the Colinsburgh Friendship Lunch today, and that she'd pick me up at 12.20 .... that takes care of 'lunch'. 11.30   The work of the past few days has caught up with me;  today is going to be a rest day.   And probably tomorrow.  I've been  trying to pace myself when doing things,  but get 'carried away' and forget that the muscles are .... er ...slightly older.   A couple of 'lazy' rest days.   I won't go out on the scooter during the day;  the ro...

17th June 2025 (Tuesday)    09.00 .... "Sunny intervals with a fresh breeze, .... and a low chance of light showers" is our weather forecast today.   Light showers means we should have an 'interesting' sky.   I'm going to do a washing, take a trip up to Elie to hand in my prescription and get a paper.   This is going to be a lazy, relaxing, day:  actually, I'm feeling "playful, verging on frisky", at the moment. 21.00    This has been an eventful day!   I've been 'roond The Ferry' twice on the Mobility Scooter.  It's marvellous being able to 'walk' again;  albeit sitting down, and moving at walking pace.   Or even slower.      The two pieces of ramp were delivered at 13.46.  They do the job perfectly, the only problem is the water running down Ferry Road:  luckily it's clean water and not sewage because I get it on my hands when putting the ramp in place.   I set up t...

16th June 2025 (Monday)    08.30 .... We have 'bright and sunny' morning .... a good day for 'working'.  I'm feeling playful,  but I have a wee bit of weeding to do first.  The weather forecast is 'good' for the most of this week;  and hot by next weekend.    I need a cuppa. 19.20    I've had a busy day;  the garden work is finished, ordered a heavy duty kerb ramp and (metre wide) that will save me doing a 90 degree turn onto the pavement.   The 90 turn onto the pavement can be done, but I haven't mastered the speed control trigger thing for really slow , manoeuvring speeds.   The trigger has to be 'fluttered' and my hands don't do 'fluttering' very well.   I'm going to keep practising. 21.30    I had a wander down to Ferry Corner;  actually I had two walks to Ferry Corner .... the camera didn't have a card in it the first time.   I'm feeling mair 'normal' and wanted a few phot...

15th June 2025 (Sunday)    08.30 .... The sky is rapidly clearing to "sunny intervals with a moderate breeze", after yesterdays spell of much needed, rain, .... and the air is fresher after the rain.    We have a lovely morning, and I am feeling almost playful:  not quite 100% yet, but definitely on the mend.   And, looking forward to having breakfast. 18.40   I've had a good day in the garden;  jobs that Iain and I meant to do before the scooter was delivered;  but we ended up with a the 'bug'.   Anyway, I think the only thing I need now is a kerb ramp.  That said the delivery bloke drove it (the scooter) in straight off the pavement and round to the patio: but I'm  not as skilled as he is, so it will be easier for me to get on to the road with a kerb ramp.   I'll see what Iain says when he gets back from Dorset.  I'm not in a great hurry to admit to having to use a Mobility Scooter.... but I'm l...

14th June 2025 (Saturday)    08.45 .... I certainly won't have to water the tubs today:  we have a grey, wet start to Saturday.   'Light rain showers with a moderate breeze' is the weather forecast for KY9 today... and we should have sunny spells between the showers.    At the moment the sky is totally overcast with we have steady rain;  just what the countryside is badly needing.  I'm feeling much better this morning, and looking forward to going to Methil to 'annoy' Alice.    The sky is brightening already! 17.00    The roads were busy as this morning:  and there was a lot of water lying about after the rain last night. a lot of water on the roads this morning.   It was only light rain when I set off from 'The Ferry':  by the time I reached Upper Largo I was one of a line, of carefully driving vehicles travelling through a deluge.   And that's how it was until I reached Methil.   ...

13th June 2025 (Friday)    We have a 'bright, sunny and warm' morning, with a light Easterly breeze (it's going to veer to the Westerly direction later) coming from warmer climes, hence the warmth.   It's not the best of breathing airs, but, hey ho.... it reminds me of Cyprus, and the happy days of National Service.   Long may this continue. Unfortunately.... the heat is to bring thunderstorms;  working their way up from the South over the next couple of days. 18.30    The mobility scooter was delivered today.   The boys let me see the bits and pieces , and had me reversing and playing around on the patio.  It was a tight fit coming in the front gate but that was because I'd left my car in the wrong place.    I'll take the gate off before I venture forth on it myself.   The roads were too busy in the afternoon anyway (and I wasn't feeling brave).   It will probably be Sunday before I go out on it ...

12th June 2025 (Thursday)    08.45 .... We have 'bright and breezy' morning (I'm feeling brighter and breezier too).   The breeze, though from the ESE, is warm because it's coming from North Africa and Spain:  so it will be a good drying day.... which is handy, because I have a washing going through the machine.   The garden thermometer is showing 15.3 C just now. 21.00   The Air India airliner crashing, just after taking off and loaded with fuel, (which exploded in a fireball), has been the shocking and sad 'News' today;  my thoughts are with the families, and friends, of all who have lost loved ones in this disaster.   The single passenger who miraculously survived, and walked away, from the crash and fireball, is one lucky gentleman;  like the three sailors that survived the magazine explosion, and sinking of HMS Hood in the second World War.    I've feeling better today.... not 'bright eyed and bushy tailed'...

11th June 2025 (Wednesday)     09.00 .... It's a lovely sunny morning;  it's hazy, with only a light Dorset Steam Fair - 2012 Westerly breeze at the moment.   The breeze is to back to the East later.... and it's to be sunny for most of the day.  I'm still feeling under the weather so will be lying low again.   I think I may be fractionally 'better' than I was yesterday, the sair throat has gone, but my nose is running and I've got a headache.   I am not enjoying this 'bug'. 11.15    I'm feeling 'better'... and have actually done some weeding.   It's a lovely, warm day (19C at the moment) ;  a braw day for pottering about.... and shaking off this bug.   Hey .... I am beginning to feel positive;  I'm having 'morning coffee' outside. 17.00    Although not 100% I'm feeling much better.... and have even done a reasonable bit of weeding.   It has been a lovely, sunny day, but i...

10th June 2025 (Tuesday)    08.00 .... Oh.... I sneezed!   I hope that's a good sign, because right now I am not in 'playful' mode;  being choked up with  the cold.   It's another 'potter around Ivy' day I'm thinkin'.  Anyway I'm up, had  breakfast, and now ready for a cuppa... and to take the pills.   It will be another day watching the 'News';  and anything else I find interesting on the TV.  "Sunny, with a moderate breeze" is the KY9 weather forecast for the whole of Tuesday. 11.45   It's a nice enough day but chilly in the brisk Westerly breeze.    I've been watching the TT races from the Isle of Man, cat napping, and drinking plenty liquids;  and watching the News'.  I see on the 'News' we have a school shooting in Graz (Austria).   The world is awash with weapons of all kinds;  so it's not surprising that some end up in the hands of 'sick' people.    My tho...

9th June 2025 (Monday)    09.00 .... It's a lovely, quiet morning just now, but light rain with (hopefully) a few sunny spells is forecast to move in by lunch time, and be with us until evening time.    I've  definitely got a 'bug' so will be lying low.   Got loads o' food, milk and bread.... so I could withstand a short siege.  This will be a rest day, pottering around Ivy, watching TV, sleeping in front of TV, and doing computer stuff now and again.... and drinking plenty fluids. 22.15    I've had a quiet day around Ivy.   I did a spot o' gardening, (sent some weeds for a holiday in the broon bin), watched the News;   and dozed off frequently.    I'm feeling brighter tonight than I did last night, so I think I'm 'on the mend'. The News is (as usual nowadays) depressing: the killing goes on in Gaza .... and Ukraine.  Israeli civilians, of all ages, murdered on October 7th, and Palestinian civilians, o...

8th June 2025 (Sunday)    09.30 .... It's a lovely morning; "sunny intervals with a moderate breeze" is the weather forecast for KY9 today, but it's chilly out in the open;  and there's the chance of light rain showers. Iain felt fine this morning so is now on his way home, in fact he should get back to Auchnagatt about 10.30.   I'm feeling much better, and will have a quiet day pottering around the garden. 15.30   Iain phoned to tell me that he has tested 'positive' for COVID;  so I'll be lying low for the next few days.   Strangely enough I have the beginnings of a sair throat, and have been dropping off the sleep at odd times (for me).  It wouldn't surprise me if I have the headache Iain had, tomorrow.   Luckily I had the COVID booster three weeks ago so, even if I do have COVID it will be mild.   One thing I don't have to worry about:  I have loads of food in.  Iain didn't eat very much yesterday....

7th June 2025 (Saturday)    08.45 .... It's a lovely, peaceful kind o' mornin';  but thundery showers are forecast, so we we should have an interesting sky when the showers roll in.   Near enough the whole of the UK is under the threat of thundery showers.... and flash flooding.    Iain and I have had breakfast and will be ready to go to Kirkcaldy soon;  after a cuppa. 14.00    We've been to Kirkcaldy and bought a Mobility Scooter, which should be delivered in the next week or so.   It's easy to drive, and suitable for both road and pavement .... and means that I will be able to bumble around the villages in comfort.   I had, and enjoyed, a trial run on site;  including reversing (it's got reversing 'beepers').   The weather has been showery, as per forecast, but it is sunny just now;  and warm.   In fact I might have an afternoon coffee on the patio.   Iain is resting after al...

6th June 2025 (Friday)    08.30 .... At the moment I'd say the sky was mostly blue;  but there are clouds scattered around, and there's chance of showers .    It's not as breezy as it was yesterday, so not as chilly as it was.   I'm going to Methil (to torment Alice) and Leven to do our shopping.    I've got  a washing going through, which I'll hang out in spite of the chance of showers. 21.30    This has been a busy day.   Alice and I did our shopping in the morning, then went back to Alice' s to have lunch.  That reminds me I got tablet from Lorraine Alice's next door neighbour..... and I'm fancying a bit o' tablet. Back at Ivy I put the messages away, had a cuppa, and decided to defrost the freezer.   That disnae take long;  using Maggie's hairdryer.   It's a bit o' a guddle but I got there eventually, then had another cuppa while watching the 'News'.   The washing I did was...

5th June 2025 (Thursday)    08.00    We have fluffy clouds bumbling across a lovely blue sky just now, powered by a moderate Westerly breeze:  The Westerly breeze is obviously originating from the Arctic because its chilly.   The weather forecast for KY9 is .... (20 second delay) .... is ..."sunny intervals with a moderate breeze".   The wind chill means it will be cool on the beach... and the golf course.   It also means I am unlikely to go out on the bike.   Oh I nearly forgot;  the "KY9" area was on the BBC weather map the other day..... I like that;  that's my 'playground'. 11.30    I've a funny feeling that I might not have been overly popular at Woodhaven  Bottle Bank this morrrrrrning;  I was there at 09.15, so not as early as I have been known to go to the bottle bank.... and, I snuck out as quietly as I could!    It was a bit late for being quiet I know, but I was feeling a...

4th June 2025 (Wednesday)    09.00 .... 'Sunny intervals with a moderate wind' is the weather forecast for KY9;  it's the bits in between the sunny intervals that can be annoying.   Right now we have a squally shower rattling over.   Luckily the showers are moving fast, and are to fade away altogether (well near enough) by lunch time.    I'll have an early lunch.     Last night I went to bed planning to get up early to photograph a tree;  that 'plan' has been amended because.... (a) I overslept and (b) the heavy showers.    However, I've had a long hot shower, to get rid of  stiff muscles caused by working (garden) on Monday.   Now I am ready to go out to play.... but not until the afternoon.  10.00     Well that shower was; either a cloud with a big diameter, or a long skinny cloud, because it lasted longer than I expected.   I won't have to water the tubs this eveni...

3rd June 2025 (Tuesday)     08.15 .... After some overnight rain, we have a 'bright, breezy and "Should I tell them its upside down?" chillier' morning;  actually a braw fresh start to Tuesday.   There is some cloud around, rain isn't mentioned in the weather forecast.... but squally showers might blow through.   I'm going to Leven and Methil, Leven to do a shopping;  Methil to annoy Alice, who arrived home last night from a long weekend at Blackpool with her friend and neighbour, Fiona.  16.00   The trip to Leven, and Methil, went perfectly:  both missions accomplished, and well ready for lunch back at Alice's;  a Sainsbury's cheese roll with trimmings, followed by a dry oatcake(?).  The 'dry oatcake' looked suspiciously like a chocolate eclair.   There's a good chance that the oatcake could be 'fake news'.   After a cup o' coffee, I bumbled my way back home.   Yesterday's efforts ...

Lovely, sunny morning

2nd June 2025 (Monday)     08.15 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing 'sunny with a scattering of fluffy clouds' this morning.... with the Lochgelly cam showing a bit more cloud to the West.   Precipitation is not mentioned in the weather forecast for KY9 today.    The breeze, a frisky one from the West.... is chillier than I wanted.   Should be a warm afternoon so I might get the bike out then. 11.00    The sky is cloudier than it was, so we now have 'sunny spells', with the chilly breeze.   I've been thinking about a few other other local  'wildlife' changes.   I remember the Collared Doves arriving locally in the 1960's, and they quickly became one of our common garden birds, until  a few years ago:  they have been displaced by, would you believe it, heavier built Wood Pigeons.  That said, I saw a single Collared Dove the other day so they are still around.   Magpies are no...

1st June 2025 (Sunday)     09.30 ....  We have a mostly cloudy sky, with occasional sunny 'The Paddocks' housing Estate - Colinsburgh. spells;  and good chance of showers by the look of the clouds.   There's chilly breeze from the WSW, so I probably won't go biking today;  unless we have a quiet evening.    I put a washing on so I'm hoping for a drying day!.... that means, no showers over Elie and Earlsferry. 16.15   The weather has been a bit mixed;  sunny spells with squally showers.   I don't know how many extra rinses the washing has had, but it's more that one.... and I still have hopes of it drying.   Actually it will definitely dry;  because I'm leaving it out until it is. I had a short drive up to Kinneuchar, then home by Balbuthie, in the middle of the afternoon; it was shorter than I meant it to be, because of a heavy 'shower'.   The showers are going to die away overnigh...
