Lovely, fresh morning ....
22nd June 2025 (Sunday) 08.00 .... We have bonnie, fresh morning; the mugginess of the past
few days, having been cleared away by thunderstorms that moved across the NE of England and over the North Sea. We didn't get any of the thunder (is we did I didn't hear it), but the storms passed close to Crail. Anyway, we now have a lovely fresh morning. There's a 'low' chance of light rain showers in the afternoon; that means we could have interesting clouds.20.00 The 'light rain' showers arrived sooner than expected... and the one I drove through in the morning on my way to Methil was certainly not 'light'. Apart from the showers, we've had a lovely sunny day; and the breeze kept it cool. I arrived at Methil just as Alice put the kettle 'on'. We had a cuppa and came up with a 'plan' for the shopping. Alice needed to go to B & M's, so we did most of our shopping there, then onto Sainsbury's for a few bits and bobs. Shopping done, we went back to AHQ for a much needed cuppa after the stress of 'browsing the aisles', in two shops! The cuppa was rapidly followed by a tasty lunch; including a sweet with Alice's home grown strawberries on top. An after lunch coffee had me ready for the trip back to 'The Royal Burgh'. As ever the roads were busy. I met the boy racers going to the 'Crail Bash' in the morning; then, in the afternoon, met them coming home from Crail. So ended a successful mission.
Back at Ivy I put away the messages, made a cuppa the sat down to watch the News. And fell sound asleep, in spite of the news being about 'Donald', our Prime Minister's friend, 'playing' with his big toys. I woke up an hour and a quarter later, feeling refreshed and ready to watch the News. The bombing of the nuclear sites in Iran wasn't a surprise; I think everyone expected that to happen as soon as 'Donald' mentioned the possibility of it happening. However the politicians are right when they say there should be no nuclear weapons in the Middle East: in fact there should be no nuclear weapons anywhere on the planet. However they exist and can't be 'un-invented', so I suppose humanity will have to come to terms with the fact they will be used, by some fool, one day. Anyway back to the 'bombing' with the big boys toys. I wouldn't want to be an innocent American tourist anywhere on the planet; they are going have to be on the alert all the time! How sad is that. Surely there has to be a better, and more mature way, of settling differences.
21.30 I decided to have a walk to the beach, but changed my mind when I found out how cold it was. I
met Barbara and Alistair coming back from their evening walk, and they said it was really cold on the beach.Tomorrow is going to be a nice enough day, but it's going to be noticeably colder; and it's to be windy so there will be wind chill. After the past few hot days, tomorrow will feel like the start of winter.
