Cloudy with light rain ....
26th December 2024 (Thursday) 10.30 .... After a brief, bright sunrise, it didn't take the sun
long to climb above the cloud layer, and we have an overcast sky with light rain. A good 'lazy' day after the hectic few days before Christmas. Izzy and Alice are bringing lunch.... 'Meals on Wheels' by Jaguar .... for a Royal Burgh! And... I don't have to worry about food today. Actually I slept in this morning so this could be a 'rest' day!15.30 Izzy and Alice arrived with MOW (Meals on Wheels) in Jaguar. Not only does Izzy bring the food, she also brings everything else; the table, cutlery dishes, mulled wine... and non alcoholic wine! Alice and I sat and enjoyed a very tasty Boxing Day lunch,..... served by Izzy. My word what a lovely way to brighten up Boxing day. A dreich Boxing day I might add! Thank you Izzy... and Alan who did the menu!
I was sound asleep when the girls arrived; the first I knew they were there was when Alice knocked on the living room door!
After the girls set off for home, (via Sheila's in Upper Largo), I thought I have a walk to the beach. However, I only got as far as Ferry Corner when the rain came on; so that plan was aborted. I took a couple of photos to let you see what kind of day we have, then went back and put the kettle on.
The way the weather is, I very much doubt if I'll be going out again today. It's a "browse Radio Times to see if I can find anything that will lull me to sleep" kind of day. I suppose I could start to tidy up Maggie's corner (next to the bookcase). No; I'll do that tomorrow.
21.30 The weather has been disappointing today: thankfully Izzy and Alice brightened up my day. This damp weather does not agree with my breathing. Luckily the 'bloo' inhaler bring relief.
I watched John Thaw in a film called 'Mr Tom' in the afternoon. I've seen it before, but it's a good story, about an evacuee kid from London, being sent to the country during the war. Any film with John Thaw in it is good!
The weather forecast for tomorrow is 'sunny intervals with a moderate breeze'. Definitely better than today's weather! I might go to the beach if the weather is as forecast, but the main 'plan' is to have 'rest' day.
The villages will begin 'filling up' for the New Year celebrations. The Ferry is usually choc a bloc atthis time of year; and can in fact, be quite 'depressive' if the weather is grey and damp. Anyway I'm having an early night in bed to shake of a migraine.... and it's going to be sunny, so should be in a 'playful' mood.
It's Horlicks time after an enjoyable Boxing Day lunch! Photograph shows 'Lady Alice' between courses!
