Nice morning ....

4th March 2026 (Wednesday)      10.00 .... I just saw another sign of Spring;  a family of Whooper swans migrating  North, to their breeding grounds in Iceland.    The weather? .... we have a mostly cloudy sky just now, but that is forecast to break up to give us a sunny afternoon.   I had a quiet day planned, but I've just had a phone call from the Skeith Health Centre and I've to go there in the afternoon;  so that's my 'action plan' for today. At this moment we have a very long low loader trying to manoeuvre at Ferry Corner.... it belongs to the demolition company working at Chapel Green House.   Busy place is Ferry Corner just now. I decided to Google GHQ MELF last night, to see what changes have taken place since I last looked at it six months or so ago.   Well they must have been using an old photograph six months ago,  because I hardly recognised GHQ MELF last night.  I know that they were going to s...

3rd March 2026 (Tuesday)     09.45 .... It's a beautiful morrrrning , sunny with a light SW breeze;  a bonnie drying day... although I could do with a bit more of a breeze, for the three jerseys I have on the line.   I have been a busy boy this morning;  not only have I done the washing, 'The Buggy' battery is being charged.   I think I deserve an early 'morning coffee'!... and catch up with the 'News'. 19.30    It has been a gorgeous sunny day here, and the village has been busy., with holiday makers.    This was once a quiet time of year, now  our villages are busy all year round.   I didn't get out to meet any of the visitors;  I've been busy around Ivy.    The woollen wash dried fine and the jerseys are now airing in front of a radiator.   'The Buggy' battery is fully charged, and ready for a sortie up to Elie sometime soon.   Depends on the weather. I 'Googled' Episkop...

2nd March 2026 (Monday)     09.30 .... After a damp start to the morning we have a sky showing promise of brighter weather to come.    "Light rain with a moderate breeze" is forecast for KY9,  with sunny spells later in the afternoon.   When I was out an hour ago we had heavy drizzle;  but it's fair just now. I see on the News that RAF Akrotiri has been hit with a suspected drone strike.  This has brought back memories of a walk a few of us did from GHQ MELF (where we were stationed) to RAF Akrotiri.   We then walked  round the perimeter of the RAF Base,  across the salt lake, and through the Elephant Grass (walking backwards) at the edge of the lake, to the Western edge of Limassol;  where we found a Turkish Cafe, had a coffee, and phoned a taxi to take us 'home'.   It was a long walk!   20.00     I went out on 'The Buggy after lunch;  it was sunny, but there was a cool ...

1st March 2026 (Sunday)      St David's Day. 10.30 .... We have a cloudy sky with light rain just now, but there's only a light breeze, so  it's not that bad a morning.    I haven't been further than the gate, but might go out in the car later.  I fancy getting 'The Buggy' out but win't do that when it's raining;   Alice is down with a bug so I won't be going to Leven and Methil.    I'll going to have morning coffee now;  and come up with a 'plan of action'.  18.45    What have I been doing today?    Well I've kept up with the 'News';  and have reached the conclusion that there can't be many people in who'd want to be the new 'Supreme Leader' of Iran'.   The former 'Supreme Leader',  Ayatollah Khamenie, was a bad person;  anyone who is prepared to allow thousands of 'His' country's citizens be murdered, because they disagree with the regime in Power,  deserves to be 'remove...

28th February 2026 (Saturday)     09.30 .... There's a chilly air this morning, but there's hardly any wind, so very little in the way of windchill.    The weather forecast for KY9 is "light cloud with light showers";  so no woollen wash today.    I've only been as far as the gate;  but might make it as car as the car later in the day.   I'm feeling positive and expect 'sunny spells' between the light showers.   Oh .... I got out of bed at 07.15 this morning;  but was disappointed when I saw the grey sky;  I'd been thinking 'bright and sunny'. 16.30     I had a wander up to the phone box to get a few 'today' photographs;  and got lucky!  Barbara came out to do some gardening.... with Skye and Rhum her dogs. It has been a bonnie, sunny day, but cold.   I thought about going out on 'The Buggy' but the air was too cold;  not a good day for being out.   There has bee...

27th February 2026 (Friday)     11.00 .... We have a beautiful, sunny morning, with a light breeze.   A couple went down Ferry Road with their dog just now and they were well wrapped up so it must be cool!   Me? .... I slept in;  didn't get out of bed until 08.45... and I have been chasing my tail ever since.   However I have put a washing through the machine, which I'll hang out after this update.   It looks like being a good drying day. I've seen the result of the by-election in Manchester;  both the 'big' parties must be looking forward to the local elections in May!    There could be some interesting results then.   I'm going to put the kettle 'on' (again), then hang out the washing! 14.30    The washing ws out on the line by 11.00;  that's three hours later than I intended it to be when I went to bed last night!   However,  all is looking good;  we have sunny spe...

26th February 2026 (Thursday)     10.30 .... There's lot of 'light cloud' just now,  but it has the look of sunny spells and light showers.    There's only a light breeze  so it's warm with hardy any windchill.   A nice morning for doing the Coastal Path. I've had to put of going to \visit Alice as I have a mild 'bug'.... sometimes known as 'a cold';  I'm staying in and warm, but might go out in the car at some point.   I prefer going out on 'The Buggy', but not when there's the threat of rain. I've been studying the photographs that Iain .... oops Boris took the other day of the sea damaged wall at Chapel Green House.   You can see on the photo that the original 'Black Wa', as it was called by the older generations of Ferry folk, was built atop the cliff;  eventually being replaced (and hidden) by the present wall.   It was called the "Black Wa" because the Ferry Fishermen hung their newly tarred hem...

25th February 2026 (Wednesday)     09.45 .... It's cloudy and dry at the moment, but there's a chance of light rain, at any time throughout the day.    No mention of sunny spells;  but we might get lucky later in the afternoon.    I have to go to the Skeith Centre today sometime, so I'll have a wander roond 'The Store' when Anstruther.    No other activity planned for today.... yet. 15.30    The trip to the Skeith Centre was  actually quite a pleasant trip out (and a successful one);   the traffic was normal for the East Neuk nowadays, and the weather amenable.   There was some light rain when I was at the Skeith Centre, but it didn't last;  in fact it had passed over by the time I got to 'The Store'.    Ah ...'The Store!   I went in for a browse and enjoyed myself going round the aisles.   The 'browse' cost me just over £59.    That included Fairy Wash...

24th February 2026 (Tuesday)    4th Anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 10.00 .... We have light cloud with a moderate breeze from the SW;  so, feeling positive, I have hung out a  washing.    The breeze was negligible when I went out first this morning, but it has freshened a bit and I expect the washing should be near enough dry by the end of the day.   Sometimes the sky looks like breaking up a bit to give us ''sunny spells'. 16.30    I've been busy!    My trip to the Surgery went  as planned;  and I met  Jimmy's daughter June, whom I haven't seen for a while.   June is looking well;  she never seems to change, but she must be about 32 now!    I didn't have long to wait before Laurie (Nurse) appeared, and did my blood test.    I was in and out within 5 minutes. As usual when I go to the Surgery, when I come out I take a run out to Woodhaven to get a few ph...

Bright and breezy .....

23rd February 2026 (Monday)     11.00 .... I've been a busy boy this morning;   done the ooverin', and will do the dustin' (not overly keen on dustin') after this update.   We have an lovely Spring like morning, it could even be a 'play'day;  but it's  cool in the brisk wind just now.   I might get 'The Buggy' out it the wind dies down a bit.   What I will do; is charge the bike battery and see how the bike has survived the damp weather.   'Slight Flap on' ... got to find the bike battery charger!   And it's morning coffee time! 15.30    I set off in the afternoon intending to go to Methil and have coffee with Alice, but when I got to the top of the hill it started to rain (shower) so I abandoned that idea, and ended up pottering my way to the harbour, then along to St Minnins, Abercrombie, then home by way of Robin Gray's and Kinneuchar.    The top photograph is the one I took when...

22nd February 2026    Sunday)  10.00 .... It's a 'bright and breezy' morning;  and warm, Boris. as long as  you are sheltered from the wind.   Actually it's frisky old breeze so there is wind chill.    Iain is cutting back Maggie's ivy 'bush'.    It is decorative ivy that she bought for the window boxes, and had an extra bit that she planted in the garden;  she didn't expect it go survive the first  winter, but it did.... and is thriving (unfortunately).   I think we might get rid of it altogether;   but it's where 'Blob' shelters in the winter. 19.15    It has been a nice sunny day.... but cold in the frisky, South Westerly breeze.  Colder than I expected it to be!     Iain set off for home (near Auchnagatt) after lunch;  having done some of the jobs I find hard to do, this morning.    he main job was cutting back the Ivy. After Iain left, I put the kettle ...

Nice morning ....

21st February 2026 (Saturday)    10.00 .... We have a lightly clouded sky, with blue patched, so there's chance of 'sunny spells' (and light showers) now and again;  and it's warmer than it has been lately.   This could be a good 'play day'.   Iain is off with his camera to see if he can get a few photographs of insects on the dunes and beach.    I'm going to make a mug o' early 'morning coffee'. 14.30    Iain   ... oops ... Boris had a walk along the beach and got a few photographs to 'play' with, including a few of the damaged sea wall at Chapel green House.   While he was doing that I spent most of the morning sleeping in front of the TV:  I have been feeling lethargic, but don't think I'm coming down with 'a bug';  however, I do have a cough. The Rugby is on later in the afternoon;  England and Ireland are playing Ireland at Twickenham;  with Wales v Scotland later in Cardiff.   We a...

Overcast and damp ....

Image
20th February 2026 (Friday)      09.45 .... It's a grey and damp morning, but in should be brighter in the afternoon.   The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky with a bright Southwest, so that should come our way eventually.    I'm trying to get myself into some kind of 'work' mood, but     I can't even get into 'Flap On' mode!   I'll have an early coffee, and a goodie, after this update. 13.45    The sky brightened up, to give us a few sunny spells;  so I had a run round the villages in the car, stopping at The Toft and harbour to get a few 'today' photies.    The villages are busy with holiday makers, but they are mostly heavily wrapped up holiday makers.... because it isn't as warm yet,  as it is forecast to be this weekend. I'd say that progress with Iain's bed, is slow and steady;  when I'm actually doing it.   That hasn't been very often so far today.   ...

19th February 2026 (Thursday)    11.00 .... There's a feel of Spring in the air this morning;  there;'s a light Se breeze and it's considerably warmer than it has been.    Not only is there a feel of Spring in the air;  I feel almost as frolicsome as a Spring lamb.   Feeling positive, I've hung out a washing;  there could be light showers in the afternoon, but as I said, I'm feeling positive so the showers will miss us!   Iain is coming down tomorrow so I'd better sort out his bed;  at the moment it looks like a shelf!.... could be some interesting stuff there!   Slight 'Flap On' ..... but not until I've had my morning coffee. 19.00 .... I've had a busy day, and enjoyable day.  We never had any rain so the washing the washing was near enough dry when J brought it in.    It is now ironed and airing in front of a radiator.   Iain' bed isn't made up yet, but he's happy to do that when he arrives:...

1 8th February 2026 (Wednesday)      10.15 ....  We have a mix of light cloud and sunny spells, with a chilly SE wind this morning:  but, it's actually a nice morning considering the time of year.   I'll go up to Elie later and pick up my prescription, but it's not a good 'play day';  so too cauld for me to go down to the harbour.   I'll stay in and warm.    It's the Colinsburgh 'Friendship Lunch' today, but I'll miss that because of the cold weather.  Must remember to phone Myra to let her know I won't be going. 20.00    The weather has been reasonable today;  chilly right enough but not bad for this time of year:  and it didn't rain.   If it did I didn't notice it.   I went to Elie (to pick up my prescription) in the afternoon.  Elie appeared to be quiet;  there wasn't a lot of folk wandering around.... but  it wasn't the best kind of day for families being out....

Nice morning ....

17th February 2026 (Tuesday)     09.00 .... It's a lovely, sunny, morrrrrrrrrning, but there's a chilly breeze from the Northerly direction.    There's a Yellow Warning for ice, especially  in places sheltered from the sun.   However it should be be warm sheltered from that breeze.    I'll have another cuppa then head off to Leven and Methil. 17.15   We've had a lovely sunny day at Elie and Earlsferry;  but it has been cold.    There are places, that don't get the early sun on the Leven Road, so there was was ice on the puddles and wet bits of the road. Most people were driving carefully, so it was an enjoyable drive this morning.    After a cuppa at the 'Alice HQ' we went to Sainsbury's to get the bit's and pieces we wanted, then across to B & M's to get candle bulbs for the light I bought last week.   My breathing has been uncomfortable today, due to the drop in temperature.  ...

16th February 2026 (Monday)     09.00 .... After light  rain during the night, we have a clearing sky with sunny spells now.   There's a moderate breeze from the NW so it is chilly.   However, 'light rain' is forecast;  but that could miss us and give us a nice, warm  Spring afternoon!    I'm haven't made a 'plan' for today;  it depends on how frisky I feel after another cuppa. 11.00    I've been down to the harbour to get a few photographs to 'play' with in the evening;  and I got a few photos of the storm damaged sea wall at Chapel Green House.   The house is far enough back to be safe.    Storms off the Southeast are always the most damaging;  as can be seen by all remains of the 'Pilgrim's Pier'... a "rickle o' stanes". 15.00    It's a bonnie Spring day now;   and warm in the sun.    Ferry Road has been busy with holiday makers:  some of them fa...

Quiet morning ....

15th February 2026 (Sunday)     10.30 .... Getting out of bed this morning didn't seem to be a good idea at 07.15, so I eventually got 'up' at 07.55!    Having showered and had breakfast I feel 'playful' now!    Although chilly, it's a nice enough morning, with a mostly cloudy sky, with blue patches and the chance of sunny spells now and again.   Unfortunately there's a good chance of light rain in the afternoon.   I might venture out in the car.   It's time for coffee (and 'cake' ) now! 15.30    Iv'e had a lazy day;  not that I wanted a 'lazy day'.... it just happened.   It was a nice enough morning, but any time I went out, which wasn't often) the cauld air hit, and that was that.   Stayed in and warm from then on.   Well nor quite;  I went round 'The Ferry in the car, just after the rain came on at 14.00.   Funnily enough that was the only time I went out, and...

14th February 2026 (Saturday)  .... This is "St Valentine's Day".... the day of love and red roses.     9.45 .... We have a lovely, bright, sunny and chilly morning.   I see that the sun has cleared the car windscreen,so I might go to the harbour after morning coffee.   There's a washing going through the machine just now, which I'll hang out though I doubt if it will dry because there's only a light breeze. 17.00    It has been a lovely, sunny day;  but it was cold.    I went to Elie to hand in my prescription, and to the 'paper Shop' .    I had intended going to the harbour but, for some reason, the roads were busy and there was loads of people wandering around.    In fact when I reversed out to come home a stream of traffic came the other way and I had to wait until they passed before I got going.   I went up the Elie road, then down Ferry road for a wee run.   Not much happen there;...
