9th November 2024 (Saturday) 09.00 .... The sky was overcast and misty earlier, but we have
big blue patches coming over from the West, on a light but cool WSW breeze; the sky looks promising just now. The forecast for KY9 is..... 'light cloud with light winds'. It's a nice morning, but could be cool on the beach!10.30 'The Troops' went for a walk round the village; I'm feeling sluggish (probably after effect of the jabs) so I gave 'JB' the camera. It's actually a nice enough mornin', but the sky hasn't cleared as much it looked like it would, so it's a bit chilly. The afternoon might be brighter.
14.30 The sun never made the breakthrough that I'd hoped for, so we've had a dull, rather cool day. Emily John and 'JB' took Henry for his first visit to The Ferry beach down to the beach; it was strange to him at first but, after he got used to the newness of it all, and a nibble or two of the 'Royal' sand, he
began to enjoy himself. I made it as far as Nana's Seat, but not onto the beach; however, gave 'JB' the camera to get a load of action shots. He did (123 of them), so I'm a 'happy boy' now that I have photographs to play with.
19.38 We' had a Christmas Dinner made by Emily John and 'JB' today. John is off to the Med at the beginning of December hence the wary Christmas Dinner; including presents and crackers. Emily are traveling to John's parents in Cumbria tomorrow morning via a stop in Kirkcaldy to visit friends. 'JB' leaves late in the afternoon, as he is travelling by overnight coach from Edinburgh. Maggie preferred travelling coach to Sunny Sussex so we did it that we a few times. It was only after Maggie died that I travelled by train. This has been s bus and very enjoyable weekend. I can't get over how much Henry has changed, he is so active ..... and interested in everything. The beach was a bit of a puzzle at first but, once he got used to the change of scene heenjoyed the sand. Didn't particularly like the taste of it but it was sampled! Ivy Cottage has been much livelier this weekend than it has been for a long time. Tomorrows weather is going to much the same as todays..... with the chance of light drizzle now and again. 'JB' and I will take a run up to the Fudge Doughnut factory at Cupar in the middle of the day; might even have lunch in the Café.
23.20 'JB' and I have been watching the Remembrance Service from the Albert Hall; always a poignant service. It got me to thinking about the troublesome times we are living, then I thought; 'in 70 years or so, these "troublesome times" will be 'the good old days'.
