Low cloud ....

1st November 2024 (Friday)    08.30 .... There's a lot of  low cloud, but it isn't raining;

however, the forecast is for us to get  light rain in the afternoon.   We might get a few sunny spells in the early part of the morning.   The breeze is from the WNW, veering to the East by early afternoon; bringing the light rain in from the North Sea.

19.38 (that was a good year!)    I had been worried about getting parked when going for lunch at the Caledonian Hotel (Leven);  but Leven High Street was quiet with loads of room at the 'Caley' end.   The food and service was excellent, Alice and I had .... go on guess;  yep fish n' chips; a 'mature' person's portion, which was very tasty... and more than ample!  Karen had a chicken salad.   It was quiet when we first went in (midday) but it soon filled up and, as far as I could see, all the tables were occupied by 12.45.   The lassie that took our order had never heard of the Craw's Nest!    That actually surprised me but she was young and probably never saw 'The Craw' in his Nest!    Obviously a popular place with the Levenmouth folk.

 Alice was going to visit a friend in the Scoonie Care Home 14.00 so we went up to Alice's HQ for a coffee before I dropped her off at the Care Home.   She was visiting her especial friend Christina!   Karen lives in Leven, not far from the Caley.

The Craw in his nest!
When I left Leven the roads were, as they always are nowadays, busy in both directions.   And it was starting to rain.   By the time I got to Upper Largo the rain (sort of heavy drizzle) was ...welll 'heavy'.  It got progressively worse the further East went and was rather miserable by the time I got to The Ferry.   As per weather forecast the wind had shifted to the East.

I'd come down Ferry Road to The Ferry and found the road 'blocked' by a lorry with a team of workmen filling the trench at the sub station (top photo).    I waited for a while but eventually turned about about and went back up the Ferry Road, down the Elie road... yes.. to Elie, then along to Earlsferry.   I had to moor the car up at the Toon Hall because Ferry Road was still 'Closed' due to the work being done on the trench.   I'm thinkin' the work on the substation must be nigh on finished.   I'll take photos tomorrow, if the weather is amenable.

22.00    Heather, Ray and Alistair came down in the evening, and we enjoyed a braw cuppa made by Alistair;  and a caught up with all their 'news'.    Ray was working in Australia  and Heather went out to join him for a holiday.  They had some beautiful photos of their time touring with a camper van.  Made me think of New Zealand.
